“We did it Windy…she’s so beautiful. Just like her mama, hehe…” Violet let out a weary chuckle, exhausted after two hours solid of pushing. Luckily for both mom and baby, Windshorn was a non-commissioned medic in the Bluenose Armada and knew at least the basics of foaling. And luckily for Windy, everything went as smoothly as one could hope.
“And just like her dad.” Windy joked in return, hugging his new family close. “I wonder what she’ll grow up to be…I hope she’ll always be happy.”
“If we’re lucky, she’ll be somepony rich. But happiness is good too.” Violet nuzzled her daughter, holding her tighter to her warm chest.
“Hehe…wealth is too slippery. But my love for you is ironclad. And I pledge that as long as I’m kickin’, no harm will come to us ever again. From now on, it’s just you, me and our little Night Glider.”

EDIT: the dialogue was bothering me so I decided to give it a little more life
These two were basically homeless after Violet was cast out of the family (mostly by choice). They couldn’t afford to bring Violet to a hospital to have her baby, so she had her daughter in the small seaside shack they had built together. They named their little girl Night Glider after the cold ocean breeze that made their shack shudder at night, carrying the calls of gulls and other seabirds. Despite their hardships, Scraps had his Navy friends to help him. And Violet never felt regret nor unhappiness, not even for a moment.
