Spongebob Squarepants kind of does the same thing in their show as asides from the background fishes making constant appearances, some of them will be reused for different colours. For example, the “MY LEG” fish used for the blue fish that reacts to Spongebob’s bad breath in “Something Smells” and the “CHOCOLATE” fish recolored in red as the jerkass customer from “Pizza Delivery.”

I know, but my point is in a way they kinda are all similarly designed regardless. Take away the hair, and tails, different colors, and they’d all look almost the same.

I like these colors.

Well, they all do basically use the same base body, just with different colors, hair, eyes, cutie-marks, and tails.

Also I dont think the actual pony like show has used any recolors yet.  
Also I dont think the people working on the shows or also designs for merchandise So they could easily look much different if they actually appear in the show

Honestly, if you’re ganna fault P.L. for that, you’d have to fault every version of MLP. Heck, even the cartoons recycle/recolor character models too, and almost every character has the same body type. (And even the rarer ones like “Chubby Miss Cake” are used for “Rarity’s Mom,” the chubby bowling pony, and such.)  
Nice to see other fans notice this, rather then jump on an image bandwagon.  
I admit P.L. isn’t perfect, but honestly this is a failed attempt to critique, or possibly-bash P.L.
 
I’m sure G5 will have plenty of recolor characters and toys too.

Yeah. As a matter of fact, I still have it.

I’m more disappointed that there’s no anthro Potion Nova or Trixie toy yet. I’d buy those.

Recolors are not anything special, as every generation of MLP ever made does this.

And pretty much every blind bag unicorn from Lyra to Trixie was a Rarirecolour. And the guys? There was ONE stallion mold.

I mean, just like FiM? Does somebody remember that Fluttershy originally was a Rainbow Dash recolor in some toys?
