And in the series finale, Discord is easily manipulated by Tirek into joining his side. Though, I kind of have to say that my headcanon is that Discord was just faking it in order to get Twilight to stop Tirek even if his “Hey, we’re friends” is genuine.

This is rather hilarious now that season 4 has started and we know that Discord is still a gigantic troll despite his redemption. He may not be quite evil, but it’s obvious that the power of niceness didn’t suddenly turn him perfect.

There is nothing to ‘mock’ or not. The show is still mostly a girls’ cartoon. It is what it is. Of course, bronies overanalyzing it to the point of stupidity.

Don’t play that. S02 had many episodes that were stereotypically girly.
 
“FAUST SEASON ONLY!1!!” fans are the most annoying group of people I have ever had the displeasure of knowing, right up there with people who obsess over Princess Luna as “troubled” or treat Celestia as a “troll.”
 
Oh, and the people who think Discord was actually evil and that him being reformed was a bad thing yet hate on Sombra for being “flat.” That doesn’t really annoy me as much as amuse me endlessly.

S02: Mocking silly girl cliches… then going straight for them by the end of season 2.

He’s more like anon in this sense. He does it for his own amusement and nothing more.
 
That’s really what I’ve seen from him.
 
However I will admit I don’t see him as the kind of person that would want a freind really. He’s quite capable of amusing himself, and he seemed a bit to psychopathic for that.
 
He literally destroyed the mane six’s friendships and what’s the first thing he does when he finally discords twilight who is the last one? He does a little fistpump and shouts YES!!!! and then begins laughing. That doesn’t scream “I’m lonely and want a friend” to me that screams “You’re all objects that exist to amuse me.”

Yeah it feels like some bronies are already acting like older Simpsons fans who thought the show stopped being good in the 90s or something. Good lord this isn’t like Johnny Test where only one season was good and everything after that was bad because the studio cheapened out. This show has actually kept pretty consistent quality over the course of it all while still managing to slowly ease in various changes and hinting at bigger ones (I’m gonna say this now: anyone who did not see Twilight’s destiny becoming grander at some point is nearsighted as buck, it felt clear to as as early as season 1).
 
But yeah these “Faust season” fanboys are really getting annoying. Reminds me of all the Halo fanboys who bitched endlessly about Halo 4 being made by someone other than Bungie and can’t accept that maybe another studio can do work just as great as Bungie’s when they’re as dedicated as 343 are.

It’s sad how we barely have three season and we already have folks talking as if the show’s quality has dropped to abysmal levels.

I honestly can’t decide which was shittier, Over a Barrel or Keep Calm and Flutter On.  
At least KCFO had potential, although not as a single episode.

There was never any clue of how long discord era was, and he didn’t kill anypony despite having having the power to do so I rather go with the he isn’t pure evil side. Even Celestia only referred to his reign as making ponies live miserable.
