The “whitewashing Discord” bit is part of the problem with the retcon.  
I am more focused on how it screwed Luna and Celestia over, especially given how more people are focused on the issues the retcon done for Discord. The Royal Sisters bit needs attention too.
 
 
Its really bad about the memory thing due to we don’t know whats true or just a fake memory.  
Having people’s memories altered to fit something in is just not good.  
Like I said, the retcon screwed up Luna and Celestia’s achievement with it made it into a big fat lie.
 
There are other problems I see such as how it looked like the sisters already had the Elements but that also is part of my main issue with how their achievement got messed up. The sisters facing off against Discord was when they found the Elements and first used them, the fact it turns out they already had them and looked like they used them before(given how they had armor specially made to insert the Elements into) messes that up.  
The whole “the other royalties such as Deers, Novo, etc were there too” is also part of the screwing up the sisters’ achievement issue. When the sisters faced Discord, they took him down with just the Elements, the fact it turns out the Discord bit was false and they needed more than the Elements to stop Cosmos messes things up(like I said, the Discord crisis was when the sisters first used the Elements here.)  
And the fact all the ponies known about the sisters’ achievement of stopping Discord for a 1000 years, the fact this is essentially a lie due to its Cosmos messes up the sisters’ achievements for the ponies there.

Cosmos arc literally have many past details that actually are really bad like whitewashing Discord and Celestia having an alliance with other creatures, and you’re angry with the only thing that “tries” to make fit with the canon like “Cosmos exist but Discord erases the memory to make everbody forgot about Cosmos” a thing that at least makes sense and really don’t affects seriously with Return of Harmony because well, happens after Cosmos past stuff unlike the other 2 details that i said.

Sadly I can’t calm down about that memory erase crap, its just that bad.  
Its pretty bad storytelling if now any new lore we see can’t be trusted due to “their memories just happen to get altered” there.

Literally every MLP villain that have previous battle with Celestia it’s a retcon, Cosmos is not new and it’s not the last one who retcon something.
 
Calm down with the memory erase, not even the show really take seriously with the past.

Not really fond of how there’s multiple Tree Of Harmonies like that. It sort of messes up the specialness of the Elements(and messes with how the Pillars made the tree there).  
But also it messes with the theme of the Pillars representing the Past, the Mane 6(and now Spike included) representing the Present and the Student 6 representing the Future.  
Something really doesn’t feel right..  
In fact it screws Luna and Celestia over even more with how many other characters get to be bearers but the Royal Sisters(who’s fucking cutie marks were on the tree and used the Elements first) are still shafted hard due to no longer being connected(and this issue not being addressed at all)  
I am also worried about Spike due to he might not be some 7th Element but them just going “he’s taking Twilight’s spot while she becomes this super special secret Element that connects all the set of Bearers because she’s the Chosen One hurr durr”. OH PLEASE NO.. please do not go that route.
