Equestria these days is under the watchful rule of four wise and just leaders: Celestia, Luna, Cadence, and Twilight Sparkle. Celestia and Luna, of course, are the keepers of night and day, daughters of the very first leaders of their country. They are responsible for the rising and lowering of the sun and moon, looking over their land from the heart of the country, Canterlot. Cadence, the first ascended alicorn, currently rules The Crystal Empire with her husband, Prince Shining Armor. She is known for her kindness and empathy, and protects the border of Northern Equestria. Her daughter, Flurry Heart, is the first alicorn born in over a millennia and is training to one day step into the role of The Crystal Princess. Twilight Sparkle is the only other ascended alicorn, and lives in the small village of Ponyville with her husband, Prince Stygian. Her intelligence and wisdom has proven to be an asset to her beautiful country as she works to spread kindness and friendship. Her daughter, Dawn Star, was born with only a horn and fluctuating magic, but strives to one day be a leader as her mother is for the creatures that live in their world. Time will tell what the world has in store for these protectors of Equestria.
