IIRC, they were testing if it was possible to get poisoning or sufficate the actress who was painted gold, because a popular rumor that the actress who played Goldfinger’s victim had done so. (She didn’t die, she actually eventually just retired)
As for the movie’s universe, I don’t know if Goldfinger just painted her with gold paint or covered her with real gold.
Was it just paint in Goldfinger? Thought they got covered in a sheath of actual gold.
