Apparently according to an article shared be Equestria Daily is that the G5 movie(and show, I’m assuming) is a sequel to FIM and that it’ll take place further in the future with new characters(not sure if it’s implying that it’ll take place after the events of The Last Problem or even further into the future).

What I meant was that any developments like that are going to have to be done in the comics (unless, years from now, Hasbro decides to order an FiM flash-forward miniseries to cash in on the nostalgia value).

Like you were kind of saying, it remains to be seen whether the s10 comics will remain in that time frame, or start moving forward toward that future we saw in The Last Problem.
