Description

Yee-haw! It’s the Romeo and Juliet of My Little Pony; the mother and father of Applejack, Big Mac, and Apple Bloom - Pear Butter and Bright McIntosh!

These star-crossed lovers came from two fruit-farming families who bragged that their produce was better than the others. Bright Mac was the son of Granny Smith of the Apple Family, and Pear Butter was the daughter of Grand Pear of the Pear Family. Although both families despised each other vehemently, their children had other thoughts. They first met each other when they were really little foals. They became friends right off the bat. Bright Mac told Pear Butter that if she held a buttercup under her chin, it would make her chin glow. It didn’t seem to work on him when he put it under his. But when Pear Butter put the flower under her chin, it did glow, and Bright Mac immediately fell in love with her. In his smitten gaze he accidentally called her Buttercup, but she loved the nickname and she kept it ever since.

Years went by, and in time, the two ponies fell more and more in love with each other. They had a magical, star-kissed, other-side-of-a-rainbow kind of love. With such a romance between them, you couldn’t be around them too long and, and not feel a little bit lighter than air. They would always be there to help them out, like when he took responsibility for accidentally destroying the Pears’ water silo to keep Pear Butter from taking the blame. They would comfort each other throughout the seasons. The only ponies who knew of their magical romance were Burnt Oak, Mrs. Cake—then named Chiffon Swirl, and Mayor Mare.

Despite their families forbidding them from seeing each other, Bright Mac and Pear Butter continued to see each other in secret. On the 131,456 hour anniversary of when they first met, Pear Butter sang a soft love ballad on guitar for Bright Mac, and Bright Mac led her to a spot where he carved their cutie marks into a rock, revealing their strong romantic feelings for one another. Unfortunately, Grand Pear announced to Pear Butter that they were moving away to Vanhoover not only to expand their family’s pear business but also to get away from the Apple family. After the heartbroken Pear Butter informed her very special somepony about the sad news, Bright Mac organized a secret wedding ceremony at the edge of Sweet Apple Acres on the night before the Pear family moves away, with Burnt Oak and Chiffon Swirl as witnesses and Mayor Mare as the officiant. He led Pear Butter to the secret ceremony, then he asked her to marry him, and she happily accepted. As part of their wedding vows (and since the due-to-be-weds didn’t want a big splash), they planted an apple seed and a pear seed next to each other. Just as Mayor Mare declared them husband and wife, Grand Pear and Granny Smith discovered the ceremony and voiced their extreme displeasure. Before Grand Pear could drag Pear Butter away, she says the Apples are her family now, and being forced by her father to choose between being an Apple and being a Pear, she tearfully chose the Apples. Angered by his daughter’s decision, Grand Pear left, leaving Pear Butter behind to be comforted by Bright Mac and a sympathetic Granny Smith. Despite losing her old family, Pear Butter got to be with her one true love.

Sadly, like Romeo and Juliet, Bright Mac and Pear Butter were gone from Equestria, never to be seen again. And yet their legacy would live on in the fruit of their love: their children Big Mac, a quiet stallion who looked very much like his father and inherited his humility; Apple Bloom, a filly who would inherit her mother’s intuition towards others’ special talents and founded the Cutie Mark Crusaders, helping young ponies find their destinies; and Applejack, who inherited her father’s honesty, and became one of Equestria’s most important heroes and the bearer of the Element of Honesty. And a large winding tree of apples and pears now stands, grown from the wedding seeds planted by Bright Mac and Pear Butter. Grand Pear returned to Ponyville, met his grandchildren, and made amends to the Apples. In the end, love lives on and mends all things. And may the love of two ponies from former rivaling families be treasured for all time.

When doing Bright Mac and Pear Butter, I tried to find something that would fit. After what seemed to be a string of dead ends, I found a screenshot that definitely worked, unfortunately, half of the ponies were cut off. I then discovered full body references of them in the My Little Pony Character Guide, and I managed to scan them (though I had some issues that will be resolved in due time). I even gave “Buttercup” her buttercup flower in her mane. I originally planned on having this uploaded before submitting Yona and Sandbar, but I had no time to finish the star-crossed lovers’ vectors.
