Cozy here learns how to manipulate others, and gets a satisfaction from this when she could control events rather than be controlled as seen in her home - the powerlessness is replaced by a feeling of power. It explains why she got her cutie mark, she had taken her first step towards treating those who either bullied her or distanced themselves from her, like chess pieces and thus gave her something new which unfortunately has a destructive effect on her upbringing; satisfaction in a dark life. If she had only ruined the book, it would only be a short-lived bullying act. Instead, she got the idea to take the book to sow discord and turn others against each other.
 
As the smile here revealed, she got a strong sense of satisfaction. Thus, she took the first step towards the villain she had become, although it is still too far towards the role she played in Season 8-9 where she repeatedly proved to be more astute and intelligent than even adult ponies, with manipulative abilities such as would have made her a success in the world of humanity as a politician.
 
Actually I think Cozy would have felt more at home in our world than with the ponies, as she would have a natural habitat to exploit her abilities in, in the face of formidable opponents and large numbers who would accept such leadership qualities.
 
But I think the worst is yet to come; to get there, Cozy has to go through something extraordinary. Have a bad feeling for her mother.

I want an MLP sequel where Cozy is a character. Having been released like, 10 to 1000 years later she’s STILL a filly and attends school with the other kid characters.

I have never rooted so much for such despicable evil in my life ♥

She can destroy books and friendships all she want, but she has no chances doing so.

Why destroy her book, when you can destroy their friendship instead.

If I ever need to explain Lawful Evil to someone I’m pointing to this.

Oh, Cozy. She seems to have a talent with no one around willing to help her control or teach her to restrain.
