There are also (surprisingly plausible) rumours going around that the organizers never planned to pay off the hotel, VAs, etc. in the first place, and that the whole con was actually a scam, with the organizers taking off with the money before anyone realizes they’re gone.
The fact they were nowhere to be seen on Sunday when things were reaching disaster level doesn’t help their case. If they’re innocent of fraud and just guilty of mere incompetence, I don’t see why they haven’t answered their critics yet.
@Background Pony
I wouldn’t call it guilt-tripping. There are cons that we do want the VAs to go to. EFN stepped up to show that we as a community care, and hopefully reassurance that we do want them to show up at future conventions.
We also don’t want Hasbro to disallow VA appearances at future conventions, either.
I will say, although I’d be ok with giving money to help cover expenses, I shouldn’t have to in the first place, if you’re going to start up a convention, for your own sake make sure you have more than enough cash to cover all the expenses you have planned, including contingency plans. The extra cash is for any major problems that arise.

… Sorry, I had to. XD
Ahhhhh… it’s that smell again. I know that smell.
They did.
That’s kinda why EFR started passing the hat around and guilt-tripping the fanbase into donating money.
VA’s hotel bills? Wouldn’t they get kicked out then?
