We cannot co exist with ghoul.
This comic showed some actual controversy and contradictions, not bad.
A canon: Maybe ponies had eliminated their evil cousin Bicorns too.
It is not.
That piece at the begining ( “…Until the show says otherwise…” ) is the key as to why things like “Star Wars” being bought by Disney does not mean they can “undo” the previous works of George Lucas / “Industrial Light & Magic”.
(I am not comparing him with Lauren Faust), yet the concept is similar for “The Setting” created by StudioB/DHX.
It really now depends of Boulder Media… or to be more specific: of the writters working the scripts for the “MLP 2022” tv_show [actually, a NETFLIX “original anime”] to be produced in Dublin (Ireland). If “New Equestria” is just “Equestria IN
SpaceTHE FUTURE… then it could be either part of the G4 “Expanded Universe” (like Equestria Girls)…. . . or an “spiritual succesor” in an Alternate Universe (HASBRO approved) “Official” Fanfic. Like the IDW comics.
Edited
Most of them are already contradicted though…
As said; the show is over. Nothing more will come out about the G4. And there is little indication that more will come in the future.
“- according to Hasbro, completely. Until the show says otherwise, it is -” 2014, Andyprice, when he commented on a question about the IDW comics is canon.
And they are; those who claim it will engage the examiner. For Hasbro has rights, and those who publish and sell comics, games and everything else to a buying audience, must have permission from the Hasbro. And this permission means that the comics and the mangas can be considered canon as long as these are not contradicted by the show. And there are many examples in IDW comics that have long been contradicted.
This has been completed and settled.
There are not, unfortunately. They said that it is by choice to consider them as canon.
Buzz off. The IDW comics is canon, like all released TV episodes and comics produced with the permission of the company that holds the rights to MLP, and that is Hasbro. The show is over, no new episodes will be released, and the G5 will probably not release anything about the originality of different races such as the changelings. Hasbro made it clear; everyone is canon to the contrary is proven by the show in 2011-2019, and the story of how the changelings arose has not been disputed by the show. We do not need Disney censorship practice from the Star Wars universe, which ironically was abolished with the latest film in the latest trilogy.
Agree.
The MLP Comics from “Ideas & Design Works” (I.D.W.) are NOT CANON.
. They never had access to ANY of the Bible or character bios for the Equestria Girls franchise. They built Sunset´s “backstory” like a fanfic, based solely from the first movie´s dialogue (not even the script of the movie, since “Decode HalifaX Media” (D.H.X.) forbid any of IDW´s writters to ever access it).
. An “original character” for Equestria Girls (Ray of Sunshine) that was made by “Boulder Media, Ireland” for one short was totally rejected by DHX; refusing to even acknowledge its existence on later shorts/special [or including him on Sunset´s Bio & the Bible].
It is clear that from the begining the Vancouver animation “Studio B” (later DHX) always had a strict set of rules regarding their copyright “rights” over characters, settings & Lore. It is a good thing that they were shut down & sold to a parent company that does not care about their “legacy”.
-> Boulder Media at least seems to be interested on ACTUALLY exploring the “unmade questions” regarding Equestria [they explicitly named the 3 more common types of “pony magic” in “Rainbow Roadtrip” [ Arcana, Elemental, Astral ], plus letting Twilight “discover” a 4th one she uncreatively calls “Hopeless Magic”, that has effects similar to the ones seen previously on the [terrible, terrible] episode of FiM: “Yakity-Sax” [S8E18].

@Background Pony #E90A
Except that this part of the story is not based around the comics and we have no backstory for how the changelings came to be in the show so for all we know, they could have existed for just as long as ponies.
I agree with that, but I still think Chrysalis has a potential for a interesting redemption arc. If handled correctly.
I actually read the whole thing and for some reason is am more pumped to see how this story goes.
Nice work m8!
From the IDW comics we know that the changelings appeared while Star swirl lived like a wandering wizard before settling down by raising the two alicorn foals, Celestia and Luna. When Celestia confronted Chrysalis for the first time, the alicorn had grown up, meaning that it had happened after the pillars of Equestria disappeared along with the Shadow pony. There have been lots of contradictions especially from the show about the historical background, it is said that Star swirl was a teacher for Clover the Cleaver in the old country, but there has been a very large distance between the first three heads of state of Equestria and the royal sisters - so much that they are probably not in the same time period. Sombra, Tirek and Chrysalis had commented that they know about Grogar, but that he had become a legend for them. Which suggests a big time gap between them and Grogar. In many places it seems that they had just messed it up, as with Spike commenting; “that must have been one heck of a year”.
As I said a long time ago, the action here could only take place in certain two time periods; either between the changelings rising from the ground (literally!) where the underground lake lay and the ravages of the known world - or after the flight from the volcano where Chrysalis then settled down and began to operate in secret until she launched her attack at Canterlot. If this happened before Chrysalis and her changelings went berserk, Steeltrap has done nothing but create monsters and unleash them on the world … The reference to Grogar as if he were a recent event is not very helpful, as the show suggests that Equestria as a political entity had not existed before the Hearth
s warming eve - and at the same time suggests that the legend of Grogar and Gusty was from a dark past. Let me ponder a little; Equestria was created by the three heads of state; the general Hurricane of the pegasi, the princess Platinum of the unicorns and the chancellor Puddinghead of the earth ponies. The theatrical performance was obviously not historically correct, but Star Swirl was very quickly dumped out of the background after Season 2 after a contradiction arose, when Star Swirl should have met Scorpan after Tirek had come to Equestria where the two royal sisters had taken over. How could Star Swirl be the teacher for the younger Clover and then be there with two adult princesses? It does not get any better lately, when it was revealed that the royal sisters were not yet adults when he disappeared with the pillars. It had become too much of a mess, and only within the IDW comics can one track a continuity, not least since the cartoonists themselves rarely deviated too strongly from the main lines. A clean-up had thus become necessary, but it was easier to just split and exclude rather than take on the work. It becomes difficult to place Grogar in the picture, it is even possible that Equestria did not exist as anything other than a loose concept on the lands where the ponies lived, when Grogar made himself emperor of everyone he sees. The theatrical performance imagined that Equestria was not populated and thus "discovered", but this is hard to believe. All indications are, however, that the ponies had been there, and knew the country before Hurricane, Platinum and Puddinghead came there and formally claimed this land for themselves. What happened between them and the royal sisters has never been explained, nor how long it was between the founding and the alicorn takeover. But it is clear that Star Swirl was never seen with his student or the three founders. But we know that Equestria was well developed when the pillars were formed by Stygian, this indicates several generations. If a pony has the same lifespan as a human, it can be decades. 200 years between the founding and the Shadow pony episode may be logical, perhaps even more so since the ponies are quite technologically backward, as they are not greedy as humans. Probably the changelings were not more than just a few years old when they attacked Timbuktu and destroyed a pegasi tribe without provocation, yet we see here in fanon comic that there is a larger period around Chrysalis and her changelings. Steeltrap becomes difficult to place, he could be a regular monster fighter that we know had existed in the show, may even be the predecessor of S.M.I.L.E., as soon as Grogar is drawn into the picture. Maybe it was when Equestria was subject to a regent committee while Celestia was still too young, she was only a teenager when Star swirl disappeared, and the wizard may have been on this committee. It would fit very well if Star swirl founded S.M.I.L.E., as we know he was harsh in his attitudes in the face of problems and challenges. It would then be logical to hire the monster hunters and send them out to take down monsters that had been scattered by Grogar in the past, to open up large tracts of land for development. If the actions in the fanon comic were just after Star Swirl had disappeared, when no one can control the behavior of the monster hunters out there? This could explain why Steeltrap believed that he could attack others on vague suspicion of the nature of others, since no one could give him the right guidelines in such situations. Wipe Grogar away from it all, and then it becomes much more logical. Chrysalis is likely to survive the attack, as she is protected by the throne - but her people will be decimated, and then she will seek revenge. In rage and sorrow she would attack the nearest town to take revenge, and Timbuktu we know lies to the south not far from the latitudes where the badlands and the changelings
s land lies.Celestia will probably be very young, maybe just after she had grown to her full potential (maybe less than a decade after Star swirl disappeared) - so “the changeling wars” will be her first war. She did not come to Troy to save the city or save the population after it was taken, it would be more logical that she simply followed the changelings. Maybe … Celestia, who could have eradicated the changelings for these crimes, had found out what Steeltrap or S.M.I.L.E. had done, thus banishing them to the volcano and then censoring the motives of the changelings to hide the truth. Which could be very difficult for Twilight Sparkle here.
With a little brainstorming everything can make sense.
Time will tell. Though all considered if someone takes comics as canon (personally do)
Maybe like like you said this is before the ravages on ponies so it would be reasonably respectful to the canon.

Here the author had ignored the background of the IDW comics and the few hints in the show about the changeling’s background and history. By mentioning the evil emperor - Grogar - he has broken with the canon background, as Grogar had ruled long before Equestria arose, when it was still only a weakly developed country that had not seen the immigration of the ponies - Tirek, Chrysalis and Sombra knew about Grogar, but he had become a legend to them in their time. The Changeling hive did not exist until Chrysalis had escaped from the volcano where she and her people were trapped by Celestia, and so definitely could not have existed for millennia. By the way, I have pondered the contradiction by having such a visible structure for creatures that were to operate in secret, much of the work by the authors in Season 6 bordered on stupidity and censorship.
We know that Chrysalis and her people arose from a mysterious seed that had become a predatory plant, fully developed as adults as if they had been resurrected. We know they had attacked several pony towns and terrorized the known world, so much so that the horde / the swarm was generally feared almost everywhere. We know they had been defeated by Celestia and then disappeared, only to operate in secret. They had been forgotten after several centuries, especially since Celestia in both the comics and the show practiced a strict censorship regime which meant keeping burdensome historical knowledge away from the public. But back then, when the three “adventurers” came to the hive, it was no secret at all.
It was never said whether Equestria was a political entity to which Grogar ruled, but it was suggested that the three pony tribes lived separately when he was defeated. Which meant it was before the great frost and the flight from the old homeland. Here, Steeltrap suggests that he came from a political entity with the authority given to him to hunt down and exterminate monsters Grogar had created. S.M.I.L.E was a secret organization set up by Celestia to hunt down monsters. Monster hunting and hunting of dangerous creatures such as dragons was not uncommon in ancient times, in the show it is known that dragons were exposed to hunting to skin them for their impenetrable shell skin. Which suggests that there was a demand for body parts and other things due to hunting. And as one can see on the Steeltap itself, trophies as well. The movie also suggests this when it comes to the criminals in Klugetown.
Steeltrap refused to realize that it was a tribe he had attacked, without realizing that this was a clear violation of civilized dealings between different groups divided into different species such as the ponies and griffons. He considered himself justified in attacking in strong arrogance, in the belief that one must protect Equestria by all means, and unfortunately this was something that does not exist in the show or the comics. For Celestia and all the monarchs at Equuis are not known to be supporters of unauthorized use of force or usurpation of power for their own ambitions as with Steeltrap here. They were absolute monarchies with supreme autocratic authority, which came naturally to the ponies who are herd animals first and foremost. It was seen every time that power strikes down - hard - at any hint of abuse of power low down on the hierarchy.
So what Steeltrap did was not allowed, and which made a violent impression on Chrysalis who was dangerously naive and not very well developed mentally. Her attempt to seek friendship exploded right in her face. The question is what will happen next. If the author wanted to slide it into the canon, he could place this before the changelings began the ravages against the known world. But it has become too much fanon for it to be possible.
YOU JUST CANT born evil it does make sense. Even people with APD who fall under the non official terms sociopath/psychopath become what they become through life experiences (scientifically proven).
Thats why people should start thinking more idealisticly. We have lost truck of what is right and wrong..

Yes you can. If they dont change is because they dont think there is need for that.
You demolish their philosophy their sophistication for what they are doing and then you help rebuild it.
@Sanagi 蛹
Some people genuinely are born evil and are incapable of changing without becoming a totally different person.
We also have no idea how accurate that story is seeing as it came from the mouth of a self admitted liar under a jailbreak scenario.
I’ve said it on other posts but for all we know Chrysalis is lying through her teeth and feeding into Twilight’s personal bias and Curiosity.
Plus, whether or not the ponies got better doesn’t matter, not when their ruler basically hides all their crimes and non-utopian history in nooks and cranny’s 99% of the population never sees.
At that point you’re basically pulling revisionist history which isn’t anything to be morally proud of or acceptable.
And yes, I’m fully aware of how much it happens IRL, those propaganda machines aren’t worth the ink they use to me from the lowest peon to the one in charge so I stand by my statement.
@Sanagi 蛹
If they are willing to say Discord who tortured people for years can flip like a switch for one pony out of thousands if not millions, I’m going to say these three are capable of it as well.
Edited
Like how Discord clearily didn’t want to?
And you can help them get to that point, which sadly Chrysalis never got.
So make them want to…?
Except the part where the “change” is entirely their own choice.
Everyone can change. But the point is that what if they don’t want to?! Can you change them (as in full grown adult leader, not some inexperienced children)? Because I have doubts unless people are naive enough to do so.
The only thing you can change is to make them rethink and rewire their choices. But not their absolute morals in a swoop.
Edited
You need to find the right way to get through it is possible to do so cause nobody is born to be “evil”. They become later in life.
“Some people cant change” logic is the most stupid thing I have ever heard.

Even the Joker had a few sympatric moments her and there. Like the ending of the famous Killing Joke story. But that doesn’t mean that he’s truly redeemable. Or that any character with a tragic backstory can be redeemed. Or that you actually need a tragic backstory to be redeemable in the first place.
Yet she was sympathized, unlike that discord who got hated in the end by most….
That does tell something went wrong and possibly
