How about the painting blows a kiss at him after Twilight leaves. Spike drags Twilight back and tries to prove it this time by tickling the painting (which fails to prove anything), and Twilight tells him to go outside and get some fresh air where it isn’t so spooky. As Spike grumpily watches her disappear down the hallway, he feels the portraitgeist’s breath against his ear as she whispers, “Wanna come in with me again, handsome? I can do more than just tickle you.”

They’re basically an arcane security camera. They spend nearly all of their time motionless, just listening and watching, so they manage to keep up on things so long as there’s people around. This one just hasn’t seen anyone in a while and is bored and messing with Spike, like she’s probably gonna pull the whole Dancing Frog thing on him where she pulls him into her painting, tickles him, then tosses him out, and then pretends to be just a normal painting when Spike comes back with Twilight so she thinks he’s nuts XD

Plot twist: this painting is over 1,000 years old and the royal sisters intended “it” for use as a booby trap in the Castle of the Two Sisters. As such, the portrageist only speaks Old English||, so she won’t understand the meaning of “I don’t want this”||.

Yeah. The only immediately recognizable characteristics Birdo has are her head shape and ability to spit eggs, neither of which can really be implemented into a pony. I can see one running into similar issues when ponifying a lot of characters.

Yeah. I’m honestly not super good at ponifying characters like that. It’s one thing if it’s something that’s immediately recognizable like Princess Ruto or like the evil piano from Mario 64 because they have enough clearly unique features that I can basically do whatever I want and people will be like “Yep, that’s X.” Outside of that I’m basically like “Uh, so I guess I’ll color them the same and give them a relevant cutie mark” and then I just sort of choke. It’s actually why I just as often will have a canon character dressed as like Jontron or Coco Bandicoot or Shantae instead of just ponifying them because then I can actually be a little cheeky and be like “Oh, any mistakes or weird decisions I made are because the character made the costume. Yeah, that’s it” XD

I can’t unhear Spike screaming like a banshee in horror
