I don’t know about that. It’s very strange that the only fart in the series occurs when a character is as physically far from others (and thus all the females) as possible; I suspect that’s what got the joke through despite that. I’ve also noticed that a lot of the burping/overeating is on animals, but that said animals seem to be…gendered as female (like Gummy, who wears a two-piece swimsuit and lipstick in one episode).  
It also was removed from the UK version of the episode, but that’s probably more the network being weirdly picky.

I suspect, given similar strange absence of smell related to Dishwater Slog, that the production team has a bias against actually having anything smelly confirmed to be happening in Pony Life, but it can be alluded to as existing in the abstract.

I think you do have a point, since Brussels sprouts do cause flatulence, and maybe the makers didn’t want to do a fart gag.

Kids’ shows love farts, but they are considered grosser. I believe they’re avoiding having the show contain any rear end releases of any kind because of the preferences of some of the production team (likely the same reason there’s tons of excessive eating, messiness, burping, vomiting, getting fat, inflation, growth, etc.).

This is a fart joke. Except they used a burp because they are less vulgar than farts and this is a kids show.
