Looks don’t make the product. Something can be animated/written horrendously from a technical standpoint and still be entertaining or legitimately fun to watch (Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog?).
People need to rein in their imaginations and just sit down and wait.
You’re acting like Hasbro hasn’t always been holding the reigns with this series. All designs are approved by them. Everything is. I’m sure the creative team was sent back several times and told to rework the design of the ponies.
They actually do give a shit about making a decent show. They wouldn’t have hired Lauren Faust to relaunch it if they didn’t. However, you have to adhere to market trends. Maybe the Internet cares about cartoons that make no money, but networks don’t. They see market trends, they see that teen girls want dolls like the ones here, and they give them it. What’s wrong with that?

The problem is that the designs are a reflection of how soulless and corporate-driven this spinoff is shaping up to be. We saw the early designs, and some people didn’t like them, but then Hasbro’s marketing people went in and made them even worse because “that’s what sells toys.” If just the character designs are this bad, what does that say about the actual show?
For that matter, do we know if ANYONE involved with FiM is going to have anything to do with this? For all we know, it might not even have the same voice actresses. If Hasbro just plain doesn’t care, nothing would be too low for them to stoop to. If the character designs are any indication, there probably isn’t much shit in their box of shits to give.
Yeah, but we know next to nothing about the show. The only reason people hate it is because of the designs (I find them iffy, but w/e). That’s a terrible reason to immediately write something off, because it’s a knee-jerk reaction.
Like I said up there, I watched a storm over designs happen once before, and it resulted in absolutely nothing good. People screaming “games/starters are ruined!” over just the designs. In retrospect, it was quite possibly one of the stupidest bouts of drama I’ve ever seen.
I’m butthurt because you’re all acting like entitled children and whining you didn’t get exactly what you wanted. Actually, fuck that, you don’t even know what you’re getting and you still bitch.
