Soon as he’s done here, Apple can come save these two with basically the same offer. He’d know more of the inland trade routes, which can be used to decide when and where to dock for the best deals on the equestrian coast. The opportunity to learn more about air and sea routes could give his uncles business the same edge. The sharing of knowledge that’s bound to profit all around must be worth a great deal.
You roll a 16 (required 10). Success!
You tell the harpy that you need a moment to discuss this with the rest of your party, and that one of your companions has gone off somewhere in town.
Harpy: “Understood. You go find ‘em, and when you’re done, you know where to find me.”
You nod, and turn to climb the ramp up to the main island. Once back in the village, you and Moonflower begin to look around for Apple Basket. Short-bladed grass roads lead you around the centre lake, passing by dozens of farmhouses, each surrounded by grains and flowers of all kinds.
Moonflower: “So, what’cha thinkin’?”
You tell Moonflower about your idea; since the harpies are merchants like the seadogs, Apple Basket could offer them a similar deal with the Trading Post company, which would not only benefit them, but also himself as an adventurer.
Moonflower: “Oooh! That’s kinda smart.”
But first, to find the farmpony. As you continue your search, you wander onto the western islet, and eventually spot Apple Basket and Snap coming out of a storage house. You wave at the pair, and meet them halfway.
Apple Basket: “Howdy! Sorry to keep you waitin’, I just had to double-check my list an’ make sure I got everythin’ down. Were y’all lookin’ for me?”
You pull Apple Basket in close, and say that indeed you were. You tell him that you have a new task for him, and after relaying the harpy’s offer, you follow up with your own idea.
Apple Basket: “Can’t say I’ve never seen harpies in Amblerta before, but if you think they’ll trade with the company, then I’m your pony! Oh, and before I forget, I reckon these are yours.”
You get Pot of Black Ink, and Quill Pen back from Apple Basket.
With your party back together and tailed by your seadog guide, you return to the landing, and find the pink harpy waiting for you there. You then sit back, and let her and the colt discuss a potential trade agreement.
Harpy: “Hmm… well, you ponies do have rather sizable… assets we might be interested in, so I do see some long term benefits in your offer. Very well. Finish your business here, then we’ll set out for Crescent Island together.”
