Sure the first EQG movie had big problems with its writing, how Sunset enrolled in Canterlot High and her plan of using unarmed teenagers to take over Equestria for example. But given how the series improved with Rainbow Rocks, there was no reason its creators couldn’t have kept that improvement going with the specials that came afterwards.

I dont know whatever DHX did to interfere with this tripe but whatever, if it killed it that’s a good thing.Lazy writing ? That’s a given, have you ever rewatched the first “movie”, it’s fucking awful and the only reason it got a sequel is because Hasbro was pushing hard to absolutely step on the toes of Mattel by capitalizing on G4 surprise success at all costs  
For the poor toy sale, y’know i admit i can understand the logic from a purely commercial perspective, wanting a share of the Monster High cake but asshole,your IP is called My Little PONY. I know that statement is stupidly obvious and make it sound like i’m a nitpicking stereotypical nerd but i dunno,when i tune out on MLP i’m pretty sure i can be forgiven to expect you know actual pony character in the program and not Barbie  
All of this is fucking sad, i do believe the main series is very good, it’s among one of the best of the 2010s but then you’re reminded that whoever is going to check out FIM in the future to see what the fuss was about will probably not get a first good impression being greeted by ugly looking Barbie knock off painted blue and purple with Dash mane glued on the head

From what I’ve researched, Equestria Girls’ downfall was a combination of studio interference, lazy writing and poor toy sales.

I watch two seasons from this show but is so sad they didn’t but season 3 ☹️
