Systemd, purely as an init system, is an impressive piece of software.
My only gripes with it are the fact that it relies on Linux specific features, and that it has swallowed login services, networking, device management, scheduling, and just about everything else.
I would love to see a socket based init system, that isn’t systemd, make it into a major distro.

The RHEL/Fedora family is coming, along with many others. I’m going to be doing a number of these.
Fedora is my distro, so it’s inevitable.
