NG- Maud Pie
The second eldest of the Pie sisters and by far the most serious and even-tempered, Maud followed in her father’s footsteps of the rock family tradition but secretly held onto bigger dreams that Grannie Surprise whispered to the Pie girls before she passed. It wasn’t until tiny little Pinkie, so different than the rest of the brood, had the courage to declare her love for something other than rocks that Maud decided if that tiny, soft, pink, pudgy filly could stare their father in the face and defy him that she could too. Maud left the farm at 18 to pursue a higher education, she still loved rocks but she couldn’t stay confined on the farm. Maud wanted to travel the world and to see and discover the wonders of the earth with her own eyes and hooves and their defiance of tradition bonded Maud to Pinkie for life, there was nothing she wouldn’t do for her sister, even be in the center of a large, loud, bright party and Pinkie is willing to slow down and just be for Maud.
Her relationship with Mudbriar drove a wedge between the two sisters for a period of time, Maud felt as if Pinkie was trying to smother and control her and Pinkie felt like Maud was trading her in and leaving her behind for someone she liked better, that Maud couldn't stand who Pinkie was any longer (a secret fear she had harbored for a long time). They came out on the other side of the storm with a better understanding of each other and Pinkie and Mud found their own Schtick to bond over, mainly Maud but Pinkie does adore her niece and nephews and dotes on them endlessly.
