this has been a LOOOONG time coming. i’ve wanted to fix my next gen for a WHILE - ships i don’t care for and never did, designs that were outdated and could be vastly improved, even entire characters that needed reworking. obviously my design sensibilities have improved a lot over the nearly 5 years i’ve had these guys. i used to say i’d never change their designs significantly - but honestly at this point i love them all too much to not give them an update. they deserve to look good. plus, their old designs are never going away, they’re part of history. if anyone wants to draw (or even just like) their old designs still i have no problem with that because they’re all still important to me! i like them too : - ) we r just entering a new era
 
i’ve gotta reintroduce everyone now, though! for old subscribers/watchers of mine who need to get acquainted with their updated bios as well as honestly? the new people who probably don’t even know anything about these guys.
 
SKY TWINKLE

twilight, being aromantic but still desiring a child (having raised one already with spike and being ready to take on one as an adult this time), decided to perform an incredibly tricky and powerful spell to create her own offspring without the need of another pony. it was miraculously successful and brought sky twinkle into the world! as a child, twilight was often worried that something might have gone wrong with the spell so sky was looked after very closely and nervously by both her mom and older brother, spike. she turned out to be completely okay, with no apparent defects, although a curious side effect of the spell was that while sky was born an alicorn like her mom, she retained only the unicorn magic twilight had been born with. because of this, sky cannot fly, but she doesn’t mind! to this day, she is her mom’s most proud achievement : - ) sky herself is shy and nerdy, preferring to stay at home and read manga or watch anime - something that sparked her creativity from a young age. she’s often blunt and can’t read a room very well but her friends appreciate how fun she can be when given the right conditions. she’s pretty smart even outside of anime contexts, so she’s a great resource to keep around in case of trouble!

rarity and blueblood actually hit it off the next time they met - at twilight’s coronation. blueblood winced and apologized for his awful behavior - he had been having a terrible night and has felt bad ever since, knowing he must have ruined her night. she laughed it off, remembering the night much more fondly now that years had passed, and something sparked in them. it wasn’t long before they’d fallen head over heels and soon after marriage, a child was on the way. when she came out, though… well, she had wings. at first blueblood was shocked, horrified that his wife had cheated on him but rarity’s cries that she had been faithful were much too genuine to not be truthful. a dna test revealed that darling was, in fact, blueblood’s own daughter - but now it was time to figure out what had happened. turns out, blueblood’s mother had cheated on her husband and hadn’t told a soul. blueblood had pegasus blood in him - something that would have been highly frowned upon in upper class unicorn society. darling’s parents, however, accepted her with open arms and love her unconditionally - of course, having to call on friends with wings to help their daughter grow up with them. darling is a soft spoken, gentle woman with almost nothing but love in her heart. she thrives off of helping others reorganize their life and find comfort in removing chaos. she’s not above standing up for herself or her friends, and will do so fiercely if diplomacy doesn’t work. she grew up in canterlot in and around the royal palace, becoming friends with the sullen gray unicorn who often roamed the halls alone. heartthrob and darling would become close friends for their entire childhood and it was no surprise when the two started dating in their late teens. she knows he’s pretty rough around the edges, and she knows he’s not too friendly to anyone but her, but she sees the best in him and recognizes a tenderness that no one else can.

applejack has always been married to her work first and foremost - foregoing any real relationships and instead focusing wholly on the farm and her family. she didn’t shy away from brief relations with other mares when she was younger, but she knew she didn’t actually need all that stuff to live a fulfilling life. that being said, she did frequent the local pub after long days and one of those times while she was a bit too tipsy, she slept with a pretty woman who offered and the rest is history. she gave birth to jonagold and told everyone that she had no idea who the baby’s other mother was - in reality, she knew full well who it was, but she didn’t want to mess up that mare’s life plans when she could very clearly take care of children herself. she had an entire family to raise her kid, too! when rose gold came out as trans to her, applejack accepted her wholeheartedly - but rose gold has never understood what her mother’s face meant when she first told her her chosen name. she’s never made it since, but it stuck out. rose herself is a sweetheart to a magnificent degree - always doing the most she can for her friends and family. her dream is to become the proud owner of the biggest and bestest bed and breakfast in all of ponyville - but for now, she’s stuck working at as a waitress in the local diner. it’s modest work, but she knows it’ll take her far eventually!
 
COMET LARK

comet is a doozy. vain and obnoxious, she’s “that one” in her friend group. they’d be nothing without her, but boy is it hard living with her! no but seriously, her friends love her and appreciate her dearly - no one lights up a room like her. but maybe sometimes she could… tone it down a little. her friends often joke that her talent is looking at herself in the mirror or roasting others, which wouldn’t be too far off since she’s pretty good at both of those. she has a friendly rivalry with gambol and the two butt heads a lot. comet thinks she has that same dynamic with heartthrob but in reality he mostly just wants her to shut up at any given moment.
 
GAMBOL SPECTRUM

the oldest of an absolute herd of siblings (7 but always counting!), gambol is assertive and loud - she has to be! she absolutely adores pulling a fast one on her friends and anyone around who won’t call the cops. she’s a bit more of a menace to society than either of her moms were, and it’s… an acquired taste. she’s usually the one to decide where her and all of her friends are going for lunch, shopping trips, or adventures past ponyville. when she gets stuck on a topic there’s nothing you can do to shut her up - but that’s what makes her special : - ) she loves hard and deep and she’d do anything for her gang.

sunrise is stuck between worlds - she grew up in the human world but often visited the pony one with her parents to visit their old friends. she’s always felt at home in both, and has friends in both. she feels like an integral part of both groups so when she’s away, it feels a little empty. she makes a big effort to at least always be available in both group chats! her personality is plain with no frills - she doesn’t mince words and she bares everything she has to the world. she has no secrets and you know who she is instantly upon meeting her. she can be a little ditsy at times, or forgetful due to her scrambled homelives. but when you make friends with her, you have a friend for life.
 
PORT-O-BELLA BREW

port-o~~bella brew is named after his grandma (the g3 pony!). he goes by bel to his friends, but honestly they often call him “green” or similar nicknames. he blends into the shadows easily and doesn’t speak much until the time is right. in fact, when remembering key moments, most of the rest of the group would admit they don’t even remember him being there? weird… anyway, bel found a passion in fixing up home remedies when his mom was sick one day and he read in a book that he could use certain plants to help her out. they worked fantastically, and he was fascinated from that day forward. eventually he was told to join applebloom and zecora down in the everfree forest where he apprenticed and helped them out with their own potions and brews. generally he’s a bit of a mystery to anyone outside that tight knit circle of family and friends, and even most ponies close to him don’t know that he also dabbles in curses and darker magic. he mostly uses it to help his friends out behind their backs, but no one knows what else goes on in the background.
 
HEARTTHROB

heartthrob grew up feeling incredibly isolated from the rest of society. he lived in two giant castles (often visiting/staying at the canterlot palace) at any given time surrounded mainly by his family and other ponies who all were either more important than him or had big, beautiful wings ~~ or most painfully, both. as the years went by and he saw his sisters getting extra attention due to them either learning how to fly with his mother, or for being the literal alicorn heir to the crystal kingdom throne, he grew more and more jaded due to his own lack of wings. an especially hurtful example of this was the little girl he met once while visiting canterlot when he was young - she was a gorgeous pure white color with stunningly elegant wings. he couldn’t help but notice her cloven hooves and when she explained that her parents were both unicorns, his heart panged hard in his chest. it wasn’t fair, and it never would be. despite his jealousy, the two became fast friends due to her soft and welcoming demeanor and most days he was able to tune out the constant jealousy. it’s gotten harder and harder for him to ignore it nowadays, but for the sake of his now girlfriend, darling, he tries to keep his dark thoughts at bay. generally those around him tend to get a bad vibe from him and the only ones able to stand his presence are darlings friend group. he doesn’t feel too welcome around them, either, but at least darling’s always there to keep any negative comments on the down low.
