An interesting discussion on why the show is the way it is. Kind of reminds me about Faust’s tweets where all you have to do to write well for a female character is write a character well and then just make the character female. I have to agree that that would work, well, most of the time.
I share the same opinion, and since I’m not using BP it is now a valid opinion apparently.
Because that would change the content of what I said, right?
Don’t pretend that those are reasonable grounds for disapproval of my comment.
Vulnerability, more so with men, is very much demonized and looked down on in western culture. From what I’ve been reading, it’s in vulnerability where you grow and develop into a healthy human being so I would say this whole masculinity garbage is making people mentally unhealthy and underdeveloped.
Maybe if you came out of BP mode, your opinions would actually matter.
Male privilege is just a bunch of feminist jargon. When it comes time for someone in society to suffer in some way, it’s usually men who are punished.
Just be the person you want to be and ignore attempts to change you. One of the best things the show does is give a wide selection of personalities to see yourself as.
…
Turns out, not much. The traditional aspects of masculinity that I most desire to uphold are being a good provider for my loved ones and contributing productively to my community (both of those include keeping my loved ones safe), and that’s something women can do too, so what’s masculine about it? I have and benefit from male privilege, but that’s not something I actually want to preserve.
The only piece of maleness I care about is the Y chromosome that makes up 1/46th of my chromosomes (less in fraction of material) that I hope to pass on to the next generation.
The rest of masculinity? Kicking ass in fights, getting ripped, being a boor? Buck it.

His mouth doesn’t move much so consider it like he’s internally screaming.
i think he’s supposed to be happy but i honestly don’t know
Eh, I think it used it more of as a point to say characters can enjoy more than one thing. Something that all of the mane six have in common.
