Well, it’s a horror movie. A demon is born within a little girl’s body and a cult tries to revive that demon and put it in a male body by killing the girl and perform a ritual. I think that’s basically the gist of it.

There is no normal forest. There are the fall colors where when it’s not autumn, lots of unusual plants reminiscent of these from the third movie of the Smurfs (some of these can be fought against others with “boxing gloves”), the soil mass seems a bit unusual. And the crystals - this seemed to exist only through magic. We know that crystals in Equuis are important for generating magic and storing magic / “mana”, and it seems that there is much stronger background magic in Briddlewoods than elsewhere. Although it seems a bit unstable.
 
Either the crystals originated long after the end of the G4, or the Briddlewoods (we still do not know exactly where it is) were where the line between the Crystal Empire and the equestrian federation went in the time before the Crystal War. As a result of Sombras transfer of the Crystal City into the limbo, the royal sisters chose to annex the entire territory after the empire. There are many indications that the empire in Sombras time was much larger than in S2, when only one city in the middle of a frozen landscape emerged.
 
Maybe it’s just there as one of several places under the rule of unicorns, where magic could be used - but then the crystals become like batteries that may not be rechargeable. Possibly the unicorns could use magic, but only there and possibly by using these crystals, and then they will have to be there in isolation. Not least to protect the crystals that can be more valuable than all the riches of the world.
