A headcanon and possible story idea I’ve been toying with - whatever great disaster that resulted in Equestria losing its magic and separating the tribes also freed the three from their stone prison. Of course, no magic means Tirek and Chrysalis can’t use their powers, and with Cozy they have to use their wits to survive.

Headcanon, the separation happened because of these 3. They managed to keep the citizens living in fear until they died out. Especially Cozy, where ironically it twisted into a benevolent if not dishonest rule by Haven.
At least one person has taken this idea and run with it.

Gozy Glow returned, got rid of Princess Twilight and devided Equestria. Now she rules as as some kind of immortal overlord under a new identity and makes sure the world stays as it is.
If she can’t rule Equestria with the powerand magic of friendship, then no one else will.
