Hmmm. That does sound like it could happen. Though how she’d be able to break herself away from her own personality and forge a new one sounds like quite the identity crisis. If it ends up being true, I feel really, really, REALLY bad for her.

That was a terrible plot point in the premier though where water can easily wash off the fake cutiemark. What evidence is there that Pacific Glow did the same? That’s all I’m asking.  
I like the idea that she’s a clone of the real pinkie, but I wanna have a good and plausible explanation that a pinkie would do, not another character. You get me?

If she is a clone, how exactly did she change her cutiemark? Cause those things are irreplaceable as far as I’m aware and represent the talents of the individual as well as their personality to an extent.  
You can switch them with another pony as seen in Magical Mystery Cure or in the Season 5 Premier with Starlight, but changing it willingly of your own volition seems impossible.
 
But I could be wrong.
