People have complained about the characters “being out-of-character” with every new episode and bitching about the show since Season 1.
It’s not a good season unless there’s someone constantly whining about something.
Ironically, it is why they feel like rarity needs a second chance to act differently.
But I have to admit with further reflexions that the incompetent spike wouldn’t have to it with my idea, it would have look like she want to get rid of him because he can’t do anything right instead of better reasons.
I’m just paraphrasing what Meghan McCarthy said. She didn’t want to put Rarity in the episode because it wasn’t the way she wanted to have Rarity. Of course the “RARITY IS A BITCH WHO CHARMED THE FIRE RUBY FROM SPIKE WHY DID YOU MAKE HER LIKE THAT” feedback couldn’t have helped her opinion.
You can’t just use the fandom worst case scenario reaction to help your point, it would have been understand perfectly by ¨nearly¨ everyone as giving rarity another chance is fairly popular and I’m even sure you know it.
They could have written it with that intention, yeah. But they didn’t want it to be misinterpreted like a lot of people did with SoME. We’re talking about a group of people that sees Dragon Quest as “feminist propaganda,” here.
We have to admit that they miss their chance on that one to show rarity in a good light by making her refusing spike help out of consideration for him.
And the rewritting wouldn’t be long, applejack never used spike for his own profit but tried to get rid of his help the whole episode and so rarity could have do the same with just a few adjustment in the scene where she would have talk about her reason to do that.
They didn’t rewrite the entire episode because that would have taken too long. And yes, they do care about the interpretation people would have made. McCarthy mentioned that she felt like she had to change the episode because that’s not where they wanted her character to go.
Williams has no idea how to write for most of the characters on MLP, and when she writes for Spike it’s just an absolute mess.
If they were under time constraints than why did they rewrite the entire episode instead of a single character? And do you really think they care about our interpretation of Rarity receiving Spike’s generosity? You’re arguing with hypothetical situations, man.
But I agree, Williams sucks and shouldn’t write for season 4.
Because i conplain on almost every post that has to do with season 3. In other posts i’m a good chap.
Why is Klonoa so bad?
They got a shitty script by the worst writer on the show and were under time constraints. People still would have complained even if Rarity accepted Spike’s help because then people would have seen her as taking advantage of his generosity.
Rarity/Spike dialogue is hard to write because people love to interpret her either as taking advantage of someone who she’ll never return love for (absolute BS) or an ungrateful jerk who sees herself as “too good” to get help from someone who feels obligated to give it.
@Takashi.0
Klonoa is such a good game, too…
You’re talking like they had no choice in the matter, they could’ve easily rewritten her character instead of changing the entire fucking episode.
I also miss the days before Klanoa started shitting up the board.
The writers didn’t ruin their character. They could have made SAYS a Rarity episode, but they didn’t. Why? Because they didn’t want people to complain that Rarity was being written as ungrateful to the dragon that loves her and that she was “ruined.”
Well that’s something we can finally agree on.
One episode in a 26-episode season versus two episodes in a 26-episode season and one in a 13-episode season?
Pinkie was annoying as shit to me before Baby Cakes.
Party of One would like a word with you.
I think he means from a setting perspective, not an in-episode perspective.
S1 barely had Celestia or Luna. Celestia had about maybe 30 minutes total of scenes. But no that doesn’t count. Sacred cow and all.
What, a character mentioned one fucking time a season and an archetypical cake-loving teacher?
Yeah, totally a lot of meaning.
I think it’s more of a bandwagon trend than personal opinion. You liked this episode? Nonononono we don’t like it and we’ll flame ya for it. At some point they get over it. Sometimes.
