Ah,i can agree with that
I can’t imagine it being a plot point really, just a little glow-up to demonstrate a point.
They would have included such a bombshell if that was part of the plot of the movie, that’s too big of a plot point to not include in a book that more or less retell the story of the movie
If that’s true, I think it’ll be an interesting power up. I mean, I don’t think anyone would accept Sunny permanently becoming an alicorn (there are people who still don’t accept alicorn Twilight). Making it temporary would make people complain less!
(Spoilers from the movie book) We don’t know that, as the book is short and uninformative. We do see an image of some pegasi regaining their flight, and their wings light up is a similar way. That and my meta knowledge just tells me it’ll make for a great final shot of the movie.

Well, at least the fact that alicorns may still exist gives me hope that maybe in the future we will see Twilight or Celestia and Luna once again.

No such sequences appeared in the leaked book, if its to be believed it end with Sunny being happy she learned about friendship, you see the ponies dress as unicorn to infiltrate the unicorn village but at no point the book show or hint at any Sunny ascension which make this toy existence baffling
