Description

There is like no art of the Macintosh Marauders, and that’s a real shame. They appear a lot in the story, and more than half of them appear 200 years in the future through a good helping of plot juice. I actually really like these characters, and I would totally read a story with just them in it. Not even a Fallout story, just the Marauders doing soldier shit. Or maybe beam them 200 years into the future to show how badly they fucked up. That’d be fun.

I spent way to much time spending on what war the BDU’s should come from. Was gonna do WW1 until I settled on the Vietnam War because Fallout takes place in an extended Cold War setting.
And because it’s Vietnam inspired, I must now shoehorn in some movie references. The background I taken from the Apocalypse Now poster.
My brother actually came up with the title and I stole it.
After he saw the Vietnam aesthetic he told me “you know since it’s before a nuclear apocalypse, it wouldn’t be Apocalypse now, it would be Apocalypse Coming”. I then shortened it to Apocalypse Soon.

Characters Left to Right:
Stonewing / Gorgon
(Goes after girls way out of his league which does nothing but cause problems for like 3 other characters here)
(Probably a stoner)

Jetstream
(Helmet graffiti taken from real life NVA soldiers who had this saying written on their helmets “Born in the North, Died in the South”)
(Did I mention she unintentionally kickstarted the end of the world cause she thought the nuke in her bag was a teleporter to get POW’s out of Zebraland. It worked, as in it teleported everyone within 10 miles from her into the afterlife. So the whole story is kind of her fault)

Twist / Rampage sort of
(Thinks candy is better than crack cocaine, it’s probably in the recipe somewhere)
(The phrase written on her trauma plate I stole from a System of a Down song “soldier side” but replaced ‘God’ with Celestia)

Doof / Deus Ex Machina
(A boy’s best friend is his mother)
(Don’t actually know what happens to her after Doof is imprisoned, I figure that would make a good source of high-octane angst.)

Big Macintosh / The one who got off the easiest
(His special talent is bullet attraction)
(Should’ve turned friendly fire off before the match started, thanks Psalm)

Applesnack / Steel Hooves
(Head of the Based Department)
(Said in the story that he couldn’t imagine being a zombie trapped inside a metal suit, but said it just loud enough for the god of irony to hear him.)

Psalm / Lacunae
(If she didn’t like killing, why the shit did she become a sniper?)
(Is it a designated rule that in war stories, the sniper always has to be religious ever since Saving Private Ryan came out?)

Vanity / honestly the least intersting one
(Hocus Pocus, your memory is gone. This will have no negative consequences I’m sure.)
(Fucked Rarity a bunch even though he liked Jetstream but went pound-town on her anyway because Blueblood needed a reason to kill him.)

Echo / The Dealer
(He kills people by bludgeoning them to death with his ham radio)
(Smiling Jack is a halloween costume he wears into battle. Don’t worry dude, you’ll grow into it.)

These Battle-Dress-Uniforms look so bad.

Background Pony #23CD
Snipers being religious is kinda possible. They kill people from afar through a very impersonal means, but just enough to see the life of the target go away, and most of them couldn’t even fight back even if they spotted them. They have to rely on a higher power to cope with that, that they are not evil murderers deciding who lives or dies.

(Of course, real life snipers are trained and too focused on mathematics and physics to deal with this, but it’s not impossible)
