Actually there was never a claim to “make Spike obscenely strong”, it was a cry to “stop using him as the butt of a joke that he isn’t even apart of”.
If a situation is between Pinkie, RD, and AJ and a buildup to a gag is going to happen, Spike shouldn’t “suddenly” be yanked into the scene just to throw under the bus.
Case in point, in Castle Mane-ia, Spike is aware spooky things are happening while Twilight is oblivious, while Rarity, AJ, and Fluttershy have much more personal encounters. At the reveal of Pinkie causing all the trouble, she hits a note which launches Spike completely out of the castle for no reason and only AJ even seems to realize it even happened with the entire rest of the cast literally not reacting to it. Why was Spike the target? Because he was aware weird things were happening and was trying to inform Twilight about it? Why not have that pratfall happen to Twilight, who firmly believed that nothing was happening? Oh, right, we need Twilight to berate Spike for being sarcastic and saying what Twilight told him several times over, that the screams and sounds were “nothing”, and it’s because “no one cares about Spike” so any pratfall can happen to him and “no one will care”.
Princess Spike was a literal entire episode centered around this concept of “lmao Spike can’t do anything right x3”. Spike is told to do something very important, gets a bit of an ego, but then Cadance talks him out of the abuse of power and he goes back to doing the job he was supposed to do. All the weird stuff that happened that he got blamed for was only because he did exactly what he was told to do.
That’s what that was all about. Future episodes got better until Josh Haber started writing spike episodes and made spike regress to how he was in season 2.
We have the fans of Spike to thank for that since they demanded him to get “obscenely powerful” because they wouldn’t tolerate this:
Because we know that Dragons as a whole are obscenely powerful with nothing ever having been done to ANY dragon that has ever resulted in any manner of permanent injury.
Spike is just that strong
Don’t worry, as long as we continue praising her she won’t do anything bad to me. :P
Yes,as a child, she has more wisdom and perseverance than her peers, and she has great potential to be a villain (don’t worry, I’m calling the police now, and they’ll save you right away)
That is why Cozy Glow is the superior villain! >:D
(This comment has been hijacked by Cozy Glow herself)
So,the real situation of that battle is that,on the surface, chrysalis has obtained powerful magic, but in fact,as a changeling, she has been greatly affected by debuff(loveless, and everyone all hates them three) . Rarity and spike seem vulnerable, but they have the most powerful magic of friendship and love. In MLP, friendship is an ace weapon such as nuclear bombs and missiles🤣🤣🤣RIP,chrysalis

That actually makes a lot of sense. Chrysalis has lost all the love from everyone. It’s not like she could eat love while fighting. And I mean it is still a 2v1 so.
In fact, I wonder whether her power is related to her people. Before she disguises herself as cadance and absorbs shining armor’s love, she can even defeat Cadance,a princess. But since she was usurped and lost the support of her people, her magic has weakened and was almost killed by mean twilight. In this episode, she is the enemy and threat of all creatures in the world, including her former subjects. She is deeply hated by everyone . For a creature that feeds on love It should have a great impact on a former queen. At the same time, although spike and rarity are weaker than her, they show her the power of friendship and love, so it’s not surprising that she has the upper hand in this battle (I’m not a native English speaker, which is the general meaning)

So it’s Luna’s fault? Maybe Discord’s power just doesn’t amount to as much as he thinks, look how many times he’s been beat already. The Legion of Doom relied on the wrong thing. :P
Honestly power level is one of the least things I like to talk about, like if Twilight or Starlight is stronger. It doesn’t really matter much because it can all just be changed for plot convenience. I don’t care who can beat who because that kind of arguments can never end due to bias. :P
maybe cause celistia’s sister wasn’t there to boost the changes of defeating her that time
You see, Spike and Rarity’s love was able to make their power stronger just like how Chrysalis was able to beat Celestia for the same reason… Wait, that doesn’t make any sense…
I have a lot of problems with this whole finale too but let Rarity be cool. :P
Who can answer my doubts? Did the screenwriter deliberately set this up, or was the plot of this episode terrible?🧐🤔

And threaten to kill a bunch of dragons.
I bet she was all like “Twilight, you need to teach me that magic blast right now so I can be ready for the next Changeling invasion!” :P
or maybe she already knows it’s a dream and just thinks she can in there
She showed in her nightmares that she could weaponize her magic:
She did that as a reflex, meaning she wasn’t aware it wasn’t a dream yet, meaning she could do it in real life.
The notable part about this is that Chrysalis is empowered here and she’s still struggling to overpower Spike here, and when Rarity joins him, they overpower her, forcing her to break off the beam lock and use a different tactic.

Seems perfectly reasonable that Rarity would learn at least one offensive spell considering that she faced dangerous enemies several times by this point in the series. I suspect she learned it from Twilight.
