I’m pretty sure the anti-mind reading cap does absolutely nothing. How would they even test it, if there aren’t any Unicorns with mind-reading abilities around?
 
And then there’s the balloon escape devices, which actually makes the user a sitting duck. Pegasi can easily catch up with him, while Unicorns can shoot him with their horn lasers. So, rather ironically, this invention is only useful if you need to escape from other Earth Ponies.
