This is a interesting viewpoint and it could be possible but he doesn’t have a similar color scheme to fluttershy if thats who u are referring to as the mother. Then again zephyr is apparently blood related to fluttershy like shining armor is to twilight so i don’t wanna knock your theory. The fluttercord shipper in me would want that although honestly its probably more of a case that he’ll end up being the element of kindness.

Ok, I know to some people this comes off as an innocent cute male/male pairing kiss on the cheek. And nothing wrong with that
 
But with Hitch having a connection with animals, similar to Fluttershy. This could come off as a great ancestor grandfather giving his descendant grandson a kiss on the cheek after not seeing him for so long. In my culture we still give relatives kiss on the cheek as a form of greeting and good bye
