>so why make a move now?
Agree!
Sunny is pretty much Applejack and Twilight’s soul merged.
Edited
Twilight: Sunny, I may or may not have that result, but I know that- wait a minute did you just become an alicorn already?
RD: Yo Zipp, I can’t even do parkour but we have the same thing.
Fluttershy: Um… Hitch. We might have in common of animals, but you was a sherriff as well.
AJ: Not 1 pony look similar to me, tarnation!
Um, no, just no. No on so many levels. One, I disagree that Hitch is the most developed character in the movie (I consider Sunny to be the most developed, but we all have our opinions). And while I do think that adorable ponies is what the fandom cares about most, I know for a fact that they also care about good writing as well (almost to an unhealthy extent, really).
Honestly, if done successfully, I think this is where G5 could actually improve upon G4. After all, with G4 the creative staff had to make enough episodes to cover all slots of a conventional television season, resulting in a whole lot of filler in each season. With G5 going to a streaming service, they have a lot more flexibility with the layout and structure of each season, which could result in less filler and episodes that better connect with each other, developing a singular story over time while at the same time further developing the existing characters as well as introducing new ones to the series.
That’s my concern too, because as much as I like Zipp now, I don’t want her be witty-retort sports pone. My concerns are allayed a bit due to the structure of what will be the upcoming show, in that it seems to be structured more like a streaming series with a variable number of episodes, rather than the writers needing to come up with enough stories to fill a conventional television season. That, and it seems that the people behind g5 have learned the lessons of what hampered G4’s character structure in the long run, thus the characters should in theory be able to grow organically. We shouldn’t have another case of Fluttershy having to learn to be assertive time and time again, for example.
@Enmity1498
I think it’s partially that, but also that she was brought into the narrative pretty late (bringing the pegasus crystal to the others in the alley), thus we didn’t really get a lot of time with her in her interactions with the others. From what I can gather, people like her well enough, but not nearly as much as her sister or the others.
It’ll take a fair bit of development before Pipp is more than just the shallow likes-and-followers-addicted prima donna, though I have no doubt she’ll evolve and be as nuanced and likable as Rarity.
Pinkie: I maybe the most popular at first like you Izzy, but writers gotta becareful not to flanderize you like what they did to me!!
