I’ve been seein halloween themed ocs around on both DA and PonyTown

soo it’s my turn >:)

tbh at first I didn’t have any ideas for a halloween pone oc, so what was I to do? Well I went to ye olde Google Images and looked up some color palettes and moodboards, and then in my head this fella was brewed.

“My name is Jackolantern Falls, but most call me “The Spirit of Nightmare Night”….. and sometimes just “Jack” too, haha”

-Original name was Autumn Cinnamon Spice but changed his name after becoming cursed and earning his mark.

-He earned the curse of becoming the Nightmare Night spirit after attempting to steal a witch’s recipe for a cure his ill sister needed. She ended up getting better thanks to the witch, but at the cost of Jack’s freedom. The curse put bat pony features on his body, gave him extraordinary spooky magic (but took his magic except levitation away), and cursed him to stay within a certain area- unable to leave except for on the day of Nightmare Night.

-He is the very first author of Equestrian horror stories and storyteller, which is his talent. His first book “Equestrian Nightmares”, a book containing a collection of stories, became a cult classic pretty quickly, and his fanbase kept growing with each new book. His other books include some more collections (“Tell No Tales”, “Midnight Rides”, “By the Campfire Light: Spooky Stories for Kids!”, and “Bone Rattlers” to name a few) along with single novels (“Whispers”, “Blood Moon”, “What Lies Beneath”, “Then the Doorbell Rang”, and “Train Ride to Insanity” are some examples).

-He owns a cabin with about a 5 acre radius of land surrounding it, where there he made a farm and a well for water, seeing as he’s out in a secluded patch of forest where there would be no electricity or waterlines. He makes practically everything he owns by himself, and things he can’t make he gets delivered or buys on Nightmare Night.

-He lives in a forest neighboring the Smokey Mountains, and visits different places for Nightmare Night, most often Ponyville or Canterlot

-He was once to himself and quite lonely as he went about his daily life, but throughout the years, he’s become quite popular, especially with the kids and teenagers. These rascals will often sneak off to find the Spirit to listen to his stories earlier in the year, and will set up camp in the same forest for a while before heading home. Also because of his popularity, he gets customers too, whether they buy potions he brews or just sit and have a chat or get an autograph.

-He loves the autumn time, especially the cool air and autumn colors.

-He is actually over 500 years old, though he was cursed when he was 25.

-He could technically be considered an alicorn since he has a horn and wings, but he isn’t really a true one, considering he got his bat wings from a curse rather than a feat of magic.

-He’s nocturnal, his diurnal sleep schedule shifting when he was cursed.

-When he’s out and about, he usually carries a staff with a lamp to let other people know he’s there. It also just adds to his spooky aesthetic

-He first began wearing his pumpkin head during his Nightmare Nights as a way to hide his face in shame, since he was even what he was from being a thief. But- the pumpkin became such a big part of his outfit that it just wouldn’t be the same if he visited on Nightmare Night without it.

-Approximately 6’8”, front hooves to the top of his head.
