Description

He’s still a complete douche, just not in the way Rarity thinks he is. Trollestia has taught her nephew well.

“I like the notion that Blueblood is a ponce, but his behaviour that night…”

You may have missed a word, it seemed as if the first part was your headcanon, and the rest what you believe happened in canon.

I completely agree with you regarding Rarity!

As to the picture: It’s not unrealistic to think he’s simply used to being treated like, you know, a prince. Celestia has ponies bending over backwards to please her all the time, no matter how annoying she might find it. Unlike Shining Armor, who married into royalty, Blueblood was born into privilege- I didn’t get the sense that he was actively malicious, just stuck-up, arrogant and clueless. A great majority of mares would probably chomp at the bits to get treated like a doormat by him.

Also: Personally, I tend to give him a break concerning the flying cake- mostly because Fluttershy tends to hide behind other ponies too. Not always, but often enough. It’s a personal decision though, and I understand if others feel less lenient.

Everyone wanted Twilight to give them the ticket without thinking about her. And everybody was for herself at the Gala, which nobody really minded

It’s true she didn’t make the dress in time, but the fact that she considered Twi’s birthday almost as important as hanging out with the Canterlot elite because of her friend says a lot. Specially when you consider that she wasn’t “showing off”, she was trying to improve her business by leaving a good impression, something important for her, and something that she risked to defend her friends. It’s not that she didn’t want to go to her birthday (when the party moved to Canterlot she went without a doubt, and only then she considered going to the garden party at the same time), and Twilight herself thought it was a good idea that she attended the other party.

Fair point at the end, but let’s not forget that in Sonic Rainboom it was her idea to go to Cloudsdale with everyone to cheer RD, and in The Crystal Empire she did help afterwards anyways, and even bursted into song to congratulate Twilight. Those little instances of selfishness Rarity has are small compared to the good thing she does, and even though you probably know that, some others could try to keep that in mind.

@SpacePaladin

He didn’t predict anything, he didn’t want to get rid of her, he noticed the pretty mare looking at him and took the chance. Him treating her like a servant wasn’t because he wanted her to be annoyed, it was because he wanted her to be his servant.

The Gold Digger part was meant for the pic. And although we can’t be sure he’s met those sort of mares (after all, he’s the one that apporaches them, not the other way around), we can be sure that he’s just like that, selfish and being interest in someone for shallow reasons, so I don’t see the point in putting him above that.

My argument is that he’s an asshole, but his behaviour toward Rarity was mostly him being passive aggressive, with a bit of his baseline asshole showing through.

I said he approached her because he predicted she was going to follow him all night. He wanted her to do all those things because it’s him throwing her expectations back into her face in the hopes that she’d leave. Him badmouthing the food and using her as a cake shield was his true self (though IIRC, Applejack uses the word “fancy” likes it’s an epithet, so he’s not the only one using class warfare).

And I never claimed she was a gold digger. He’s probably met all sorts of vapid mares who expect him to do everything for them because they deigned to walk up to him. He might have pegged her as a status-chaser.

She also wanted to make Twilight give her the ticket to make a grandiose showing at the Gala, with Twilight herself being an afterthought.

And she failed to complete Twilight’s birthday present because she was too busy showing off in Canterlot.

And she was too self-absorbed to help question the crystal ponies- though that’s more to do with vanity than with selfishness, perhaps. Same thing with the Best Young Flyers competition.

Sweetie Belle having to pull her sister all the way up the mountain.

Now the way she treated her sister wasn’t all that horrible, but she does take advantage of her. Or that miniscule gem she gave Spike for his pet sitting. Rarity can be a bit selfish at times.

Now please keep in mind that I do not believe that it makes her a bad pony. She has a generous heart, but doesn’t always listen to it- just like Applejack isn’t always honest.

Wrong again! Spike offers himself to help, why should Rarity not accept his help? Why is food not an acceptable reward for that? And what else do you expect her to give him other than that?

So, in conclusion, rarity has a very shallow side to her, looks, status, etc. (behavior turns out to be another factor she didn’t account for) are important to her more than the amount of bits inside a stallion’s wallet. She has worked hard to get her shop to be reputatable and she highly wishes to be highly recognized. What better way is to have a prince by her side? If it is financial gain she wanted, it would have came out more.

Guess it’s Easy to confuse a gold digger and one who wants the finer things in life. Rarity maybe a drama queen and a bit high strunged but she never tried to mooch off a pony without contributing something, she does have some principals even though she is not above using her feminine wiles to charm.

A gold digger is someone interested in the money. If Rarity isn’t, then she isn’t one. And what’s exactly the bad part about her being interested in his status? It wasn’t her principal and only interest, she only mentioned it in Ticket Master, and above everything else she wanted him to be a gentleman. his status was pretty much a bonus compared to that.

Except he never showed the intention of getting rid of her. Why bother to approach her in the first place if not for getting some arm candy? Why did he want her to open the door, pay for the food and protect her from the cake? We could say it was a clever plan to annoy a potential gold digger, even though said gold digger never showed any hint of being one. Or we could say he was being selfish and expected Rarity to do things for him and be pretty.

Apparently, Blueblood and The Changling Queen have the same tastes, since Applejack’s food was considered good enough to cater a royal wedding later.

The B option is rather unlikely since she stated they are apple deserts or his nose is so far up his own plot that he could not simply smell the apple deserts.

Got to have some logic.

Here’s a question regarding why BB didn’t know who Rarity was at the Gala…the GGG episode shouldve come right after Ticket Master.

I like the notion that Blueblood is a ponce, but his behaviour that night (save the fritter and the cake shield parts) was a passive-aggressive act to try and get rid of her. Sure he approached her, but he predicted she was going to stalk him all night if he didn’t get rid of her.

He’s still an asshole, since a nice person wouldn’t act this way in the first place, but his actions were because he’s a passive-aggressive, cynical asshole.

His insults toward Applejack’s deserts (whether he known AJ was Rarity’s friend or not) proves he was a cheap (had Rarity pay for it) snobbish (calling it ‘commoner fair’), elitist douchebag as well.

If he was just trying to turn Rarity off, it was not necessary to insult AJ’s food as well (doubted he knew or care AJ was a friend of Rarity at the time). He couldn’t be that good of an actor nor kept intel of the Main 6, otherwise he would be more respectful of those who converted his Aunt Luna back to good.

Still say the pony is a complete self-absorbed jackass.

If I can add a possibility, maybe he got so used to gold-diggers of all sort, not just prince seeking mare, that their behaviors get to him and forged his.
