Thought some people might find this useful here too. I see way too many people using the first leg, and that is a broooooken leg! They don’t bend that way!

While artistic intention is most important, you might as well draw humans if you’re gonna ignore proper anatomy.
The knee is in the flank. If the ankle (gams/kink in the leg) were bent slightly outwards, this is a possible pose. While it still isn’t strictly possible if you put them flat & straight.
I don’t favorite pics that I usually would if the legs are wonky.
Plus their flexibility can be simply explained by anthropomorphism so they can make gestures and stuff that is perfectly natural for a human being.
FIM ponies sure can bend their limbs and bodies way more than real horses ever could. Still, certain anatomical correctness should be retained.
