Working on the pieces for my final submission to the 11th anniversary art event.

I imagine Rainbow Dash flying as he listens to the story, as she of course would be. Even though she can run like the wind, so her hoofs obviously don’t bother her, I imagine that her wings always feel more stable and natural for her.

So, assuming the story is good, I’m guessing that she’s going to be flying.

Her expression is tough though. She normally has a kind of GRRR expression in a lot of Lauren Faust’s sketches, but I also think she’s going to be enjoying the story like a good Daring Do book. So I wanted to give her a softer expression.

I inked this with a 0.05 Copic MultiLiner and if feels like when I’m compositing the final I’m going to want to use something heaver, like maybe even a quill with some well dried up Deleters Ink so I can get some mass and variety to the line.

… now that I’m seeing this on the site, it seems I might have put a little weight on her tummy, and I seem to have lost some of the energy of the original sketch, especially in the wings. Maybe for compositing I’ll go back to the sketch …
