I can see why it was changed originally. Nintendo didn’t want to piss ANYONE off during the western NES launch, and those eco-terrorists at Greenpeace had ignorantly wailed on about seal clubbing for ages, even back then.

Yeah, the “Topi” seals was only in the Japanese version. They even went so far as to change the official artwork & the SSB trophies for other territories.
