“Lyra nuzzled her head into the blue pony’s shoulder, her soft whimpers and sniffles coming out slower and more irregular as the tears which had been building up begin to slowly drain their reserves. The mare she clings to like a foal to her mother continues to hold her close. Never flinching, never pulling away. Just letting the young filly cry the tears that were due.  
Because we all need to cry at some point. “
 
The story behind this:  
Filly Lyra was given a magic book and she cast a spell. This spell unknowingly threw her into a strange new village surrounded by strange new ponies. She is no longer in her home, Canterlot, but the alien Ponyville filled with noise and unfamiliarity. In the midst of one of her panic-induced sprints, she crashes into a king blue mare (Who she initially thinks is going to eat her) and, after introducing herself, gets taken to share a milkshake at one of Ponyville’s restaurants. The topic of parents comes up and Lyra, clueless and scares, finally breaks down with the realisation she may never see her parents again.
 
The single panel post which cement the beginning of the friendship between these two (Will work on doing the comics later this week, hopefully) in which Colgate offers little Lyra a shoulder to cry on. Decided since this is such a big moment for the story that it deserved extra effort, so decided to break out the tablet and put effort into the shading and background. Hope you enjoy
