Yeah, just like in CartoonLion’s universe, but this degradation is what I like about it, i.e. Scootaloo is a human kid but Pipsqueak is her pet pony, or human Celestia training her pet Luna to jump for cookie.

But if the spin-off make the girls, anthro human-like characters, and spike an inferior pet, and is owned by them, it’s degrading to the whole character.

I actually kind of like the idea of Spike being a dog in a spin-off since CartoonLion’s fanart gave me a “sentient character reduced to humanized character’s pet” fetish…

Why do they even need a messenger dog if it’s set in modern time? (I’m basing this off the modern clothing the girls had). Shouldn’t they have phones?

I still don’t see why Spike the Dog couldn’t fill the same role as Spike the Dragon. Not that I’m defending Equestria Girls or anything like that, I just don’t see this particular thing as being that much of a problem.
