Silver Script has two brothers, Stormfeather and Written Script, when the three set out on their own, he and Stormfeather found an apartment together in Cloudsdale, whereas Written Script went off to Ponyville. They do have a unicorn family in Canterlot (its how Written Script is a unicorn) but… they’re less than stellar and they can’t rely on them. Gramma and Grandpa didn’t exactly approve of their daughter running off and abandoning the family business and fortune for some Pegasus punk. Their dad’s family is cool tho and spoiled the brothers rotten. At some point Silver Script starts dating Parasol, a Pegasus mare, though they end up breaking it off when Parasol comes out as ace. They’re cool with each other though and after a brief break period continued on as just good friends.

Silver Script ends up meeting Star Bright through his brother Written Script: Written had made friends with Star at some point, and invited him over. Star Bright, while visiting, finds Silver’s cavalcades of scrapped short stories and poems and the likes for some reason thinks they’re great despite Silver’s embarrassment. He asks him about his inspirations and his passions and by the end of the day he’s talked to Written’s brother more than Written himself (not that Written minds, Silver’s never been very socially active so he’s happy to see his little brother making friends)

Silver and Star keep in close contact, writing letters, hanging out, watching movies, and sometimes just hanging out in the dark, watching the stars. Star Bright, having a telescope cutie mark, of course has an INTENSE passion for astronomy. Silver Script both finds astronomy fascinating and great inspiration material, and also just enjoys seeing Star get so passionate and his many rants and questions.

By the time the war breaks out, both are crushing on each other hard but afraid of ruining their friendship, so try not to say anything. Because Star came from a richer family who pulled some strings, he was exempt from the draft, but the same couldn’t be said for Silver, not that he would’ve wanted that. Dude had already expressed that if war broke out he had every intention of signing up. For the first time in years, Silver and Star are apart, and Star feels anxious beyond belief.

When the bloody war ends, Star is intent on seeing his best friend and crush again as soon as possible and putting him in a death grip hug. …if he’s alive. It’d been eating up Star, the possibility Silver didn’t make it. He trusted that if that was the case Written would have told him, but still. anxiety is anxiety. So when he does see Silver again, frazzled, traumatized, but very much alive and well, Star just absolutely breaks into tears, hugs him tight, and starts rambling just everything that comes to mind, how much he’s missed him, how awful it felt to think about him possibly dying, maybe calling him kind of a dumby, but that he loves him anyways

impromptu confession and of course theres alot of embarrassment at first- who wouldn’t be flustered? good thing Silver felt the same
