I’ve heard that account and I’ve also heard they weren’t told they’d be fired but that if they laughed it would completely ruin the take and they just really hammered on that the whole time leading up to the filming.
Either way, it made for a hilarious scene.

The actors playing guards in that scene were all told they’d be fired if they laughed (of course they wouldn’t be, but they thought they would), and that made it that much harder not to laugh, which made the scene so much better, ‘cause they’re all trying so fucking hard not to burst out into hysterics.
