I’d say I am “desperately trying to convince the rest of us that it’s a real thing.” with my canon x oc pictures. Over 100 under the “Grapexie” tag.

The quote “insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results” comes to mind.

Anyway, I’m just annoyed that barely anyone liked my Toto x Grapexie parody LP cover. I fucking love how that turned out and it represents my favorite things; Toto, Grapexie & Heat cringe (Fahrenheit is a measurement of heat). I probably won’t upload any more grapexie or grapepipp for awhile & if I do I might just keep it to myself or just share it with my aquentences that like the ship (some people are actual a fan of my self insert ship, believe it or not).

I have a feeling I’m falling into that category with my Ace x Pinkie ship, even if I don’t make them that often

Humor aside, it really depends on how seriously the Canon x OC ship is. There are those who treat their pairing very seriously as if it’s their actual girlfriend/boyfriend and the obsession can be very off-putting to others, especially if they get so defensive about it. I have seen some more wholesome kinds that gets a lot of positive votes and the ones who get the bad rep are the ones who make countless images of their OC or themselves together with their waifu/husbando, especially whenever they do anything explicit.

Just my observation and thoughts on the matter, it’s not a call out to anyone in particular.

Honestly, you’re not wrong here. Obsessive art showing one oc paring does get tiring. As much as I hate to say it, one does get secondhand cringe off this stuff. If someone commission or creates this art and it’s private, whatever (we all have a canon character we’ve fantasized about), but when someone uploads this stuff in public enmass it feels like they’re desperately trying to convince the rest of us that it’s a real thing.

So yeah, secondhand cringe.

I think besides the pic, most of the negativity comes from your clear obsession with Trixie, I can’t blame you tho that’s one of the hottest mares in the show, in anyway pairing your OC (or ponysona whatevs) so obsessively with one character is really cringy and people by themself tend to frown upon cringe stuff.

P.D. I in no way saying you should stop obsessing over Trixie, I just want to express my opinion because I have a huge ego and I love thinking that people thinks I sound like I know stuff.

That wasn’t the case, at least today. Just after uploading my recent canon x oc porn with alternate edits, some of them held the score below 0 for one hour.

I think its less that wholesome pics are frowned on and more that people will upvote lewd art regardless of quality. I’ve seen plenty of bad art (bad anatomy, bad design, etc) here get plenty of upvotes simply due to having boobs. So where any canon x oc art is already likely to attract downvotes add some nudity and often it’ll suddenly be upvoted, even if on a technical level the art is as bad or worse.

I personally think it’s down to the picture itself and perhaps the time of day it’s uploaded. I’ve noticed that the more NSFW canon x oc pictures get upvoted and drown out downvotes. Like my recent EG picture which involved me kissing Trixie’s breast got past 100 upvotes and drowned out the haters easily.

Whereas my most recent Grapeipipp was not popular at all, even-though I think I personally did a good job on it. I think wholesome canon x oc’s are frowned upon. If you want to make a popular canon x oc picture, you better make it heat cringe otherwise no one will like it and the downvoters win. Plus (from my experience) the downvotes are usually the same, it’s just that the popular pictures get upvotes which overshadow the downvotes, whilst the unpopular ones the downvotes overshadow the upvotes.

Also I had to remove a Femdom Grapexie picture due to the disgusting amount of downvotes it was receiving, but I think that was more to do with it being drawn badly. The anatomy was poor. I replaced it with a hoof fetish femdom picture which did better.

Also an OC’s design comes into play too. If an OC looks like crap, the less likely people will like it.

Oh and has Sivren said, humans are fickle. What’s popular one day can be hated the next.

In closing, I wish people would comment more if they don’t like an image with some constructive criticism. Just tell me why they don’t like it instead of leaving me to guess and come to the conclusion that they are just blindly spamming downvotes just because it falls under the canon x oc tag.
