It’s not some mysterious, unknowable X-factor why you can depend on every depiction of a character with dark skin, visibly fat [especially when its explicitly NOT fetishized], or clarified as being not-cis gets a cluster of downvotes, or why artists like greenArsonist get a bandwagon of negativity following all their posts, or why they gotta deal with a rotating circus of clowns in their comments.

It’s cuz’ FIM’s fandom allowed for a bunch of bigots and fascists to latch onto it early on, and Derpi’s absolutely was, and is, another vector of where and how that was permitted and thus, de facto encouraged. And now, even to this day, even with the fandom and especially Derpi basically being vestigial at best, and functionally dead more honestly, there’s a cadre of little reactionary goons who are still trying to make folks feel unwelcome and unsafe for daring to commit the sin of, like, drawing Twilight as a black girl, or gasp, Pinkie as black and nonbinary and fat??

Oh and then when they’re called out they’ll make excuses that it’s totally not bigotry. They’re “taking a stand” against “wokeness,” cuz’ “wokeness” is the only reason an artist might depict people in a way that people just fucking can be, and “taking a stand” definitely means spamming a bunch of fanart with downvotes on a rotting image board. Let’s at least be able to csll a spade a fucking spade, come on.

I swear to god, we only still post our art here cuz’, let’s be frank, it’s very easy and convenient to do so, and there is an audience of folks [who aren’t trash] still interested in our kinky bullshit here, and it’s not like there’s that many places for posting fat ponies around where there are any eyeballs on it. But every goddamn time we come here we get a little bit closer to just pulling our shit off of here entirely, and I can’t help but feel we’ll be happier when we finally do.

Finally, to the artist – we do love your work, we wanna say! You convey a ton of charm, character, poise, and joy in what you do, and we’re glad you’re doing what you do. We’re just sorry you gotta deal with this shit, and then gotta deal with not even being able to talk about what this shit is or why it happens.

We want to encourage you doing what you’re doing, as long as you enjoy it, and you deserve to be allowed to just enjoy it. You deserve for this to be a place that deserves you.

Idk what kinda fantasy world you live in… yeah there is more diversity in media recently but the majority is still straight and white… Also every single plus size creator I’ve seen literally has so many comments all the time fantasizing about their deaths… But either way, what relevance does that have to my humanization. I am not a corporation, I’m just a dude drawing what I enjoy. Why does it have to have some greater meaning? Have you thought that maybe I just think it looks nice and that’s it? The same way when other artists draw the mane six as all skinny and white they just do it cause they think it looks nice? Like… cmon…

I dunno, sometimes when I post my art I just instantly get a ton of downvotes so I kinda wonder if I have some people follow me just to downvote sometimes… I wish they would just hide my artist tag and move on though ^^;

Sad how perfectly competent art like this gets downvotes due to bronies fragile headcanons, but poorly done fetish porn gets upvotes easily. Attitudes like this are why I don’t associate with the fandom outside of derpibooru.
