That is true but the same goes with all the other bright colors too. Jumpsuits can be bright yellow, green, orange with stripes, pink, bright blue.

It’s weird how some areas stick with boring tan colored uniforms. Not fun at all with all these other fun colors.

Also jumpsuits are usually made of a thicker material so it’s harder for an escapee to run while wearing it too

I always thought the purpose of the color orange for prison outfits is because it’s a bright color, which makes it difficult for would-be escapees to hide anywhere. It’s like the exact opposite of camouflage. (To quote a military guy from some random movie I once saw, “Not even the Dutch army wears orange.”)

My obsession for orange jumpsuits specifically began with watching various TV shows focused around prisons. Watching people in courtrooms in orange or in prison cellblocks was fascinating to me. They always denote that orange jumpsuits are for general population, medium security, etc. Green jumpsuit isn’t as exciting. Usually green denotes protective custody or some sort of random special treatment. Orange is the best color since it’s usually chosen for the vast majority of the inmates in a prison. So, it is the most common and such. Also orange is easier on the eyes!
