A little wordy but I’ll tell you the real reason why people do not like being told to not criticise things. It is because essentially, someone is telling someone else how to think. We are not a hive mind. People do not like to be told how to think.

“nitpick everything and you’ll enjoy nothing” is exactly you saying to just not criticise, which is never the correct suggestion. You’re not saying not to jump the gun, even if that’s what you meant. However now that I know that’s what you meant, that’s wrong too. This is like watching someone flailing in the water and saying “wait wait, they might not be drowning.”

We CAN SEE what the show looks like RIGHT NOW. There is no hastiness here. We are criticising what exists. Furthermore, we are criticising what was uploaded and posted with the pure intention of telling us what to expect from the show. Nothing you’re saying about not criticising that makes any sense at all. There is no other situation you would say this in, unless you just don’t like that people don’t like what you do like. In other words, that’s your own magical bias-confirming leap in logic you’re pushing there, not mine.

To go back to my drowning analogy, did we learn nothing from when Pony Life was initially announced? People called out it’s problems correctly before it aired. People, who are bronies might I add, who like Friendship is Magic and had nothing to gain from Pony Life being bad, were saying that it was bad, and were right. And your type still came in then and tried the same thing. You’re not fighting haters. You ARE the haters. You are the ones creating drama and disruption by being contrarians. By arguing for the loser’s side for the sake of it. That’s not helpful. That’s part of the problem. The people who stuck their fingers in their ears and closed their eyes and said that all the trailers dont exist for Pony Life, and that nothing counted until the show actually came out, are if anything, the reason it was so bad. Imagine if the Sonic fandom told everyone to shut up about Sonic’s first bad design in the movie. That would have been awful. So let’s at least have some standards higher than the god damn Sonic fandom. I think MLP has earned a higher bar than that.

I made my response to you in the first place because it seemed like rather than giving your opinion on the show, you were just badmouthing people with opposing opinions. And that’s not a friendly way to discuss things. Of course it’s not just you. It is overwhelming those on your side though. There is far less “this looks good” comments and far more “shut up hater!” comments. Because in the end, that’s what this is really about. It’s not about the show. It’s about causing an argument. We know this show looks bad. There shouldn’t be an argument to have.

Strange/simplistic animation styles can work if enough effort is put into the movements and facial expressions. From the <5 seconds on here, movement is ok, expressions are very bad, but maybe that will change in the series.

Having said that, if this is for 5 min youtube shorts then it’s almost certainly going to have no story or character development, so the animation is the least of the reasons I probably won’t be interested.

how many times must it be said: this art style isn’t for the TV series, this art style is for a series of YouTube shorts that’ll probably be barely a minute long

the TV series will still have the CG designs

Compared to the other 2 G4 animation styles, ‘Tell your Tale’ looks like an really, really cheap animation style.

It’s like Hasbro downgraded their animation style even further which I didn’t think was possible after what we got with ‘Pony Life’ but Hasbro just proved me wrong with ‘Tell your Tale’.

Is Hasbro having an constant/race to see if they can make their animation style even worse each time they make an new mlp TV series? Because it sure looks that way to me.

I quite agree. If we close our eyes tightly and just don’t acknowledge that anything is bad, then nothing is bad! Never criticise, never ask for more. Just take it and enjoy it!

This must be awful on purpose - probably on a misguided attempt at some kind of gross-out comedy. They literally had to go out of their way to make the designs this mangled.

This has got to be an early April Fools joke. First bean mouth now human calf legs. Are people actually defending this shit?

I’m starting to think this is a promotional stunt like what was done on the first Sonic movie. They intentionally made Sonic look ugly to startba buzz.
