Hmm…

That gets me to imagining they sort of have their own ‘Everfree’ sort of area, except it’s much more expansive, with the likes of evil aura and dark mist - a sort of eternal cloud of unsettled cursed sands.

I also like the mix you suggest of nomadic tendencies with them also having a few cities to stop and rest at between things - and from the sound of ‘market cities’, I’d like to think they’re fairly well-sized, having reached or escaped the critical mass required to sustain themselves in spite of utterly barren surroundings.

As well, I admit I’m intrigued by the idea of a society that runs large-scale machinery and potentially automatons through energy generated from dark magic and animalistic/ritualistic magics. It’s not a combination I’ve really seen done, I don’t think. It’s also a setup that in itself gives good reason for its modern-day status of lost and forgotten.

If you ever felt like tossing out a visual glimpse into these ideas, I don’t think there’s any of us who’d really be opposed. Like you said, official Saddle Arabia is practically nonexistent, making it a ripe grounds for suggesting creative ideas like these.

Much less, seeing Maud going off to do her own useful thing, potentially Daring-Do style, and much less putting that Rocktorate to some sort of use, sounds like a great time!

i have had a few story ideas for the saddle east. most of em not terribly fleshed out though

i like to imagine that it would be an ancient land with a very long but mostly forgotten history; that there use to be a quite magically advanced civilization that once thrived, but rather than unicorn inherent magic, they used more animistic or ritualistic magic for their mechanations, calling upon other … darker things for power.

then in current times the majority of the desert ponies are nomadic wanderers, with a few big market cities. the old dunes are considered cursed, as wondering deep into them often has the traveler never be seen again.

a couple of story ideas center around uncovering the long forgotten things. ive had ideas of Maud going over there for her own geological research, only to discover one of those nameless cities.

also had some ideas for Luna needing to travel over there to discover the cause of some sort of nightmare magic, or creature. though that plays into some other ideas i have had for her, mainly that she is not just responsible for the moon and dreams but many other occult and dark things, including her being a psychopomp (one who guides the spirits of the dead to the afterlife).

yea, some stuff like that. a lovecraftian theme you can say

I feel you there.

I was always personally interested in Tall Tale. Given the name, and its location of being near both a forest and a clifftop, I feel like it could’ve been kind of a surreal place.

Well… Moreso than some of the rest of Equestria.

Did you have any specific imaginings of Saddle Arabia?

Thanks for all the work you’ve put in for this little corner of the world to enjoy!

I apologize for not being able to offer more critique, but I rather like the light-shape in the middle, and the background out the window looks very pleasant too. The wordplay is much appreciated; perhaps Luna won in this universe?

Honestly, I think I really just enjoy how a lot of the outlines look - sketchy but not, solid yet fuzzy. I also really like how the sheer cloth looks when zooming in, like its sheerness is a feature that just kind of quietly pops into existence when looking closer.

Here’s to a lengthy reign for as long as you enjoy!
