Description
It was supposed to be Canterlot’s most wonderful day – a day for all creatures to share their love with one another. But Chrysalis discovered all the love – and saw a chance to make herself stronger than ever. Sneaking around, she took the forms of various creatures. Kind of like Tirek, she devoured as much love as she could without getting much notice … until she decided she didn’t need to hide anymore.
Pretty soon, thousands of broken hearts were lying on the streets – and all over the city. Unfortunately, the Elements of Harmony were not available – because the Mane 6 got ambushed (along with Spike, the Student 6, and the Pillars). Celestia and Luna were busy fighting a monster in Manehattan, blissfully unaware of what was happening in the capital.
As for reformed changelings, Chrysalis did not attempt to steal their love, having learned her lesson with Thorax. Instead, she attacked them with her raw powers.
Finally, Shining Armor and Cadance arrived. They’d been running late, having to settle an issue with Flurry Heart. It was now night. Armor and Cadance gasped with horror. Canterlot was in pieces – and they saw thousands of creatures lying lifelessly on the ground. Many of these creatures had tears in their eyes. Armor’s and Cadance’s senses were tingling … and they had an idea of who was responsible.
In the wedding hall where Armor and Cadance had married long ago, Chrysalis was having her own great feast. Piles of lifeless bodies were scattered around – about 300 victims total. Many of the victims had tears streaming down from their eyes, as if they might have died of broken hearts.
On her most recent pile of broken hearts, Chrysalis stood proudly on top – with a great sadistic grin. Letting out a great big laugh, she was feeling on top of the world.
But now the joke was on her. Shining Armor and Cadance had shown up … sneaking in from behind. Chrysalis was blissfully unaware.
Armor and Cadance believed in the power of their love. If they could defeat Chrysalis once, they could surely do it again. With every ounce of their hearts, the two spouses were determined that no creature would die of a broken heart.
To meditate, they started hugging and kissing, rubbing their bodies against each other. Armor and Cadance were highly romantic. But their love wasn’t just a physical thing – each cared for the other as if it were their own body. Their love had brought forth a wonderful daughter, their baby Flurry Heart. And the more that Armor and Cadance became connected to the Crystal Heart, the more they felt that all their subjects were their children.
Shining Armor and Cadance were not ashamed of their romantic feelings. Their romance had sparked a family – and a whole new appreciation for the commitment that best friends show. Each was willing to see the good in the other when the other disappointed them. Caring for their daughter, literally a product of their love, led them to feel the same about others’ daughters and sons.
When many creatures fall in love, they’re just falling in love with themselves. Armor and Cadance might not have been immune to this themselves – but thanks to their commitment, their physical attraction matured into the friendship that creatures were made to show. The more they contemplated the dimensions of their love, the more they felt one with the world.
Finally, Chrysalis noticed the strange glow coming from behind her. But it was too late. Shining Armor and Cadance adored all their subjects – and despised all villains who were irredeemably evil. With their own triumphant smiles, they let out a great explosion of love – rocking the whole city with a heart-shaped shockwave!
In a few seconds, Chrysalis was throwing up. She was barfing out all the love she had stolen. Finally, she collapsed on the floor, weak and starving. All her victims finally woke up. With Armor and Cadance’s love to shield them, the victims ganged up on Chrysalis and beat her up. Afterward, the reformed changelings wrapped her up in a great big cocoon.
The next day, the foreign creatures were kind of mad. Chrysalis’ attack the day before made them feel as if they had fallen into a trap. But then they remembered the new friends they were making across racial boundaries. The masses of creatures were determined that they would not let the forces of evil destroy their love for one another. Thanks to Armor and Cadance, they felt this love growing stronger than ever!

I don’t think there are many creatures who can withstand a changeling attack – unless they can do as Thorax did to beat Chrysalis.

Star Tracker is one of my favorite characters as well. He’s like the stand-in for all fanboys who’ve wanted to make friends with Princess Twilight. The idea was to include some characters a notable number of people love – but without making many fans ridiculously angry. Also, part of the idea was to make us feel a connection with all races depicted in the series – including a certain cat in the lower left corner.
