anywho, nautical mile is a seapony/hippogriff and pony hybrid. however, her land and sea forms are a bit mixed up. this is her land form, where her hind legs are partially fins which she can’t use to walk on land. she’s a good swimmer in her sea form, but she has hippogriff arms as her forelegs, though that’s much less bothersome.
being a hybrid, she can’t earn a cutie mark, which many ponies consider sad. however, miles considers this a blessing, because she’s got many talents, like navigation, singing, lockpicking, etc!
another small thing of note is that she’s the daughter of mage twilight sparkle. this isn’t well-known in equestria due to twilight trying to give miles a normal life, though it’s hard not to stand out as a hybrid and a wheelchair user in a still rather speciest ponyville
