It would have been a bit like inspiration Manifestation, but without the wicked possession. Just have Spike initially try to help her with the cover up plans she wants to go for before he puts his foot down and tells her she’s wonderful no matter how she looks; that her mane never defined what she could do.

Totally agree, this could have been a good episode to improve their relationship. I would have liked him to be the one to highlight her internal attributes, to tell her that she is not only who she is because of her beauty, that would have added more depth to the character.

I’m soured beyond all belief that Spike virtually didn’t exist that entire episode. You’d think he would have been with Rarity all episode trying to help her, but he just gets a bit part joke of cleaning up the hairsplosion.
