I think the trailer version was work in progress footage and that they didn’t had time to properly render the ponies models yet. They finalized that in the finished movie

Exactly, and still, im glad they improved em better
The film would suck? Not necessarily, just imagine if Sonic 1 didn’t change the infamous Sonic model, then the movie will flop pretty bad & Sonic 2 would not be made in the first place
