Well, quicksand acts as a fluid roughly twice as dense as water, and since people are, like, 70% water by volume, so you won’t sink much further than your waist. The danger with quicksand is getting stuck there and being exposed to the elements.

Every video I’ve seen on actual quicksand mentions the same. At most, you’d go waist high and then your weight would be evenly distributed and you’d stop sinking. The full submergence is only fictional due to movies using it as a quick and easy way to dispose of someone.
