I didn’t even give a darn about “masculinity” when I started liking MLP. To me, it’s just a meme, and I ended up with stupid chickens and drunks to laugh at.
However, there are some things that I would rather not cross into, because I prefer to stay as a gentleman. For example, even I consider it shameful to call myself a “brony” or be proud of such an identity (but I am a bit fine if “brony” just means “adult MLP fan”, including women who like MLP - just don’t call me one). Wither because I think it’s like wearing a tutu, or because the word is associated with angry, obsessed fans.
These so-called “bronies” are perhaps like the haters in the early days, ironically repeating the haters’ attitude but with MLP as their fandom (not the target).
Boastful “bronies” were the reason why I stayed in the fandom, until I started focusing on the lore and newest updates. And more inspiration.

Eh. I don’t know. I’ve seen plenty of bronies talk exactly like the insecure dudes who won’t stop talking about how to be manly.
